"He did what!" I exclaimed whipping my head to look at Chuck , who sat beside me, straight on. "Yeah I told him not to go up there, but he was so insistent that I couldn't stop him. And Gally too, encouraged him." I shook my head as I looked around us, at all the Gladers partying, laughing, and joking around the huge flaming bonfire.
"He's going to be scarred for life." I said taking a drink of water and Chuck stared at me with wide eyes. "Does Ben really look that bad?" I put my cup down and briefly closed my eyes. "Yeah, Chuck. It's bad... I went to see him a couple hours ago. It's hard to believe that's him." I directed my vision over to where Thomas and Newt were talking on the outskirts of the party.
"What do you think of him?" I asked, focusing back on Chuck. "Huh? Thomas?" I nodded waiting for him to continue. "Uh I don't know yet. He's pretty freaked out, and asking a lot of questions. But I think he's probably really cool, once he gets over it." "Maybe..." I mumbled.
Before Chuck could reply, someone clapped him on the shoulder causing us both to look up. "Hey Chuckie, why don't you go entertain our newbie, I need to talk with Nicole here." Newt said and I raised my eyebrows in surprise. Chuck looked at me but quickly got up to go find Thomas.
"Am I in trouble?" I asked only slightly joking as Newt sat down beside me. He softly chuckled. "You will be if you don't tell me what's going on with you." I opened my mouth and then closed it not sure what to say. "Uh...sorry what do you mean?"
He nodded towards where Thomas and Chuck were. "Something has been bothering you ever since you saw Tommy there. The way you looked at him...." "Jealous isn't a good luck for you." I interrupted him jokingly causing him to give me a sarcastic smirk. "Seriously Nikki, whats going on?"
I let out a slow breath. "Ok this might sound crazy, but I've seen him before." Newt furrowed his brow "You remember something?" He leaned forward, the flickering firelight illuminating his face. I rubbed my eyes with a sigh. "Yes, kind of. It started when I first got here, I had a couple of dreams, that I'm now convinced are memories. But I haven't had any until yesterday, when I first passed out when you took me to the Homestead, and then I had another... Flashback when I first saw Thomas."
I went into detailing describing the dreams to him, trying to leave nothing out. It still confused me, and that reflected on his face, as he stared at me both shocked and confused. As I finally came to a finish, Newt was silent for a long moment, studying my face. "Why haven't you told me this?" He asked and I sighed. "I don't know, I guess I had just assumed I was crazy all this time. But now...I mean this most recent one felt the most real. And even Gally says he saw Thomas before when he..." "Wait wait!" Newt interrupted. "You told Gally about this?" I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "Please, Newt. Who do you think I am? I just asked him about Thomas. He told me he saw him when he went through the changing."
I looked down and groaned. "I don't know anymore. I've always been the person to judge someone off of my own experience with them, not what I've heard. But... I have had an experience with him, and it doesn't look pretty." Newt shrugged. "At the same time, you don't have the full story. You said yourself, that flashback was a jumbled mess." I released a long breath and nodded. "Yeah...You're right."
I sat up straighter and smiled at him. "Thanks. You somehow managed to make me feel better." I said running my hand across his arm to emphasis my words. He smiled. "Anytime."

Another sleepless night, again lead me into the map room, where I continued to ponder over the impossible task of how to get out. Which, again made way to the feelings of failure and frustration.
Leaving the map room, I was blinded by the morning sunlight and I groaned aloud. I just wanted to make it through this day, and then tomorrow I would be able to go back into the Maze, which is something I felt I needed to clear my head.
The morning passed without incident, and I thought that maybe I would have a normal day for once in a while. But then, in the afternoon, was when our world started to unravel, as an alarm sounded through the Glade, as if signaling our imminent doom.
A/N: I'm so sorry for this terrible chapter! And the long delay! I've had terrible writers block and would just write a sentence a day. Anyway.. Thanks so much for reading still!
