I've just realised that I haven't been invited to Ethan's birthday party! How was I going to do that if the birthday is in 3 days? I guess I just have to tell Melody the truth. My phone buzzed. I just got a text from an unknown number! Considering my social life at school, the only people it could be are Melody and Ariana... if they changed their number, which I highly doubt they would have. What if I am going to be cyber bullied? Okay, maybe I was being a bit delirious.
I decided to read the text.
Hi Amelia, it's Ethan. Sorry, I didn't get a chance to talk to you at school. Melody gave me your number so I could invite you to my party. She thought I already invited you and I told her that there must have been a mix up. Anyway, the details of the party are below.
I really hope you can make it!
Ethan.
Is this a miracle or what? OMG! This was totally meant to be! The confusion in my mind was swirling around like a twister. What am I going to wear? My parents aren't home that night either so I can stay as late as I want... and plus, I'm 18 and I can pretty much do whatever I want to, and a couple of weeks ago I got my very own car! Finally I can drive somewhere other than The Mall and school. I was totally geeking out!
My phone buzzed frantically disrupting my moment of glory.
5 unread text messages from Melody.
I decide to just read the most recent.
Hey Ames, I hope u can make it to the party... guess what?? Ethan just texted and told me he's gonna pick me up from my house at 8 and drive me there! So don't get upset if ya don't see me but I'll see u around yh.
Okay.. that does make me a bit upset. I don't really know anyone that is going to the party other than her and she has deserted me. This is the perfect moment to quote Adele : 'I won't rescue, you to just desert me.'

My mum begins to scream in a mum-like, kind tone; ' Ame, SOME GIRL called Bethany says that she's here to....'
I couldn't hear the last part. 'WHAT????' I exclaimed.
'I SAID TO DO YOUR COMPUTING PROJECT TOGETHER!!'
'okay.. send her up.' , I said with authority. Bethany. I hadn't talked to her much before until we met in Computing at the start of this year. She seems SUPER nice to everyone and very honest to herself which I LURVE about her. Sometimes I even thought that she was my only friend that I could trust and I'm beginning to this more and more of that as the truth.
I heard a few light knocks on my door.
'come in...' I muttered.
The door opened and swiftly closed behind her. She stared at me as if I had pizza residue on my face or something. That's when I realise I was still slumped in my bed, wrapping myself in my sheets like a corpse or something.
' oh sorry..' I mumbled awkwardly just so she could hear me, as I attempted to roll out of the cocoon I made myself. THUD. I fell epically onto the floor and hit the ground, still attempting to break free.
'here, should I help you?' she offered a hand and helped me out
'thanks', I said awkwardly, with a genuine smile.
Halfway through extreme Python programming Bethany breaks the tension by saying something completely off topic. But I guess we need that once in a while.
'so are you going to Ethan's party?'
'yes, well at least that's what I told myself a couple of hours ago.' I giggle.
'Sweet! Mind if u pick me up in your car and then we can go to the party together?'
'Leggo! Wait, how did you know I have a car? I mean I am pretty much the most avoided girl in school.' I mean I'm not the iggest geek and neither am I really cool and stuff. I'm kinda caught in between. I guess you could call me a wallflower.
'Oh I saw it parked out front. You must take REAL good care of it... it looks on fleek!'
'Thanks!' I burst out laughing. The whole time Bethany was here I loved it because I could finally be myself in front of someone. Turns out we both LOVE Ed Sheeran and we were singing 'Sing' and no one cared that we weren't good singers; we just did what our hearts wanted. Moments like that, you spend with true friends, and you feel infinite. Afterwards, before she left, I took her to my messy kitchen and made her the 'everything but the kitchen sink' sundae. Surprisingly, she really liked it and was the first ever person to compliment my cooking!
I can't wait to go to the party with her... We'll both be cutting shapes and frankly we won't give a shit if anyone laughs at us. It is a high profile party though, but we'll see how it goes.
