I take a seat on the chair near her bed when she pulls my arm and invites me to sit on the bed because let's face it, that chair was more uncomfortable than the crusty, un-lubricated floor in the auditorium in secondary school. Beth crashes down next to me and crosses her legs.
'So what happened last night between you and Ethan?' she wiggles her eyebrows deliriously.
I feel my cheeks flush more red than my reddest shade of red lipstick.
'Nothing' I say, smiling so hard my cheeks might just fall off. I stare into my lap and avoid making eye contact at all costs or she will eventually divulge all the truth out of me. We have freaky telepathy though. Maybe she'll just read my thoughts.
I look up, feeling more confident. She stares into my eyes, probing my soul.
'You kissed him, didn't you?'
How the hell did she know that?
'Hold on... numerous times right?' She grins as if she knows what I'm about to say. Is there anything she doesn't know?
'Maybe.' I say, although I was so embarrassed, it came out a bit like muhhuumuubeee.
'And you slept with him?' Why was she asking questions she knew the answers?
I squint my eyes and look at her. 'No sexy time, I'll have you know. It was strictly just sleeping anyway. Plus, we were so tired...' I drift off.
'So if you weren't tired you'd have sex with him?' She wiggles her eyebrows fiercely. She bursts out laughing.
'Shut up!' I snort, still smiling, so it wasn't as effective. 'Anyway, I kinda need to get home ASAP. And also, I love how this is the first time I'm at your house and the first thing you talk about is sex. Interesting actually.'
She bursts out laughing so hard, she knocks over her book on the bedside table. She gets up and walks around, rummaging through the drawers looking for something. She swings a pack of Maltesers my way.
'Here you go.' She says. 'Enjoy it, it's my last one.'
'AWWWWW!' I squeal. 'TENK U DURLIN!!' I scream as I run up and give her the biggest hug ever, almost toppling her over.
She hands me the keys to my car and I raced down the stairs and jumped in. I put my key in the ignition (Justin Bieber style). I gave a little wave to her and stuck my tongue out (it's our thing) as I pulled out of the driveway; the waffles were rising up to my throat at the thought of getting home to mum.
----------------------------------------------------
I pull up to my driveway at about 3:30pm, and just sit in my car, trying to wrap my head around everything that happened last night and this morning. My hands start to become clammy as I think about what mum is going to say. Jeez. I take deep breaths in and out but it wasn't helping. I was sweating like hell and everything started going blurry. I had never done anything like this before, so I don't know how mum will react.
'Okay' I whisper to myself. 'Let's do this.'
I stand outside the door and as I am about to knock, the door swings open. Huh. Wasn't the first time that's happened today.
