Did I do something wrong? Why would Daine encourage me? Had I done more harm than good? We all arrived back at the castle and were now standing in Damien's office. They were getting the full story about what happened to us from Alina, but I couldn't speak. All my thoughts and questions came to a crashing halt when Daine appeared in my head. 'Good job little minx.' His deep voice still ringing in my head. I was pacing back and forth as they spoke. Their words were muffled and non-eligible.
"Addeline?" Was I not suppose to give her blood? Was I think too? Did my blood mean something? How was he able to get into my mind anyway?
"Addeline!" Alina's voice startled me. I jumped and look back over at the three concerned vampires.
"You haven't uttered a word since we left the field. Are you alright?" Damien asks. I am as sane as a woman can be after getting ripped to shreds and having your evil bastard brother voice in my head. I can't form any words. Damien sighs,
"Perhaps we should call it a night. She looks pretty shaken up."
Everyone agrees, and I head back to Jace's chambers. Jace and Alina stay in each other's arms. He wouldn't stop kissing her and telling her 'I can't believe your here.' I laid my back flat on the bed. The mattress dipped, and Jace and Alina leaned over me,
"Are you sure you don't want to talk about it?" Jace pegged
"I know you've been through a lot these few months. With the werewolf incident and now saving my life...I'm worried about you," she replies as she lightly touches my cheek. I normally like the sign of affection. It reminds me of something a mother would do to her child. But I felt nothing. Nothing but guilt. I don't know what I would do with myself if I put any of them in danger. They already had enough on their plate with Daine on the rise and constantly having to protect themselves. Now my blood is added to the mix. Alina sighed and placed her head on my shoulder,
"I love you, Addy," Alina replies quietly. Jace laid his head on my other shoulder,
"I love you too Addy." They had grown very fond of my nickname that my younger brother used. I liked hearing it come from their lips. I enjoyed their presence as I tried my best to sleep.
"Please stop! Please! He has nothing to do with this!" I scream as the lash smacks against Damien's back. Daine was holding the lash with a malicious grin. The lash was covered in wooden spikes. Each time it would land on Damien's back, the wooden splinters would pierce into his flesh.
Damien was dangling by his wrist in a cold grey cell much like the one I was held captive in. Daine swung again, and the lash ripped through his skin. Damien remained silent, but his body flinched. I wanted to run over and comfort him, but for some reason, I was stuck at Daine's side.
"Daine please, I'll do it. Just please stop!" Daine did not swing this time. He walked over to his brother. I was still stuck in the same spot. Like I was waiting for his return. Daine swung his brother around so that his open back was no longer facing us. His beautiful tear stricken defeated face was looking back at us. Daine had put something in his mouth to prevent him from speaking,
