The sun rose high in the sky the moment our carriage was inside the human fraction. Alina handed them the forged documents, the guard nodded and then we went on towards the Lord's home. Alina turned to me,
"Do you remember the plan?"
"Yes," I grumble as I look outside. Alina touched my shoulder,
"I know he is the last person you would want doing this, but this will keep him occupied while I find your brother. Hopefully, it won't take long, and we can hurry up and get it over with," she replied.
I knew she was right. This was the best and easiest way to deal with this. The carriage stopped right in front of his home. The guards opened our doors, and we both stepped out. Another guard came and grabbed the sorcerer, and we all walked inside. The throne room was empty, and we both exchanged looks. I'm sure the guards at the gate informed him that he had a guest. Suddenly a door far off was opened and closed,
"Who on earth has come this early just to speak to me?" Lord Morris grumbled as he shuffled towards the throne chair. He had his hands on his eyes as he rubbed them and sat down on his throne chair. Once he moved his hands, he blinked a few times in shock and then gave a short chuckle,
"Are my eyes playing tricks on me or is that Alina and Addeline?" he smiled. Alina cleared her throat,
"We are here to return your slave." His smile doesn't waver as he leans in a little,
"That's not mine."
"He is your slave, and by law, you have to claim them." He runs his hand under his chin and strokes it like he was in deep thought.
"And if he was mine...I know you both did not come all the way down here this early to simply return him."
"I have business to attend to down here, so we came down here to drop him off and then stay a while." Alina answers and he smiles again.
"Really?" He stands to his feet and steps down from his ledge and heads over to us. He stops right in front of us and reaches behind us and takes the sorcerer.
"You're more than welcome to stay here while you conduct business," he replies to Alina and then turns to me,
"Is King Damien ok with you being here?" he asks with mock concern. I know he could care less if the King agreed with it or not. The sorcerer shifts uncomfortably in his hold. I play along and look him in the eye,
"The King and I are no longer acquainted. That's why I accompanied Alina on this trip milord." I lie.
"You don't say," he smirks. He shoves the sorcerer off and commands him to leave. The sorcerer stumbles off, and a guard helps guide him to where he was supposed to go.
"Well, if it's any consolation you will more than likely have many suitors. With a face like yours, he may be closer than you think." I give him a cute smile and fumble with the strands of my hair as if I was nervous.
"Why thank you, milord. You're too kind." He liked the reaction, and before he could move any closer Alina cleared her throat,
"It's been a long day, would you be so kind and show us where we can sleep?" He backed up and waved his hand out signaling us to go first. We both walked ahead, and he walked beside me. He showed us around the small home and told us where he slept even though I'm sure he was only telling me that. Alina had said that he was eyeing me during my birthday despite how he reacted to not getting 'respected.' He dropped Alina off to her room and then a few doors down was mine. Before I opened the door, he pressed me against it.
"If you need anything Addeline, you know where I am," he replies as he strokes my chin. I close my eyes as if I'm into the touch and he liked the reaction.
