"Oliver, what are you doing?" I question as he steps more into the light. He looked much older with his long blonde hair braided down his back. The traditional tribal markings on his head, shoulders, and forearms only made him look even more mature. The faint stubble and the hard edge in his eyes proved how different he looked from the time I boarded the boat to come back here.
"Don't speak my name," he replied gruffly. His aggression astounded me. How could he have such animosity towards me? As if I didn't sacrifice most of my life raising him.
"Have you gone mad? Why are you treating me this way?" I continue to question as he pushes the weapon deeper.
"In a way, I was mad. Mad enough to think that this beast could be my sister. But in reality, my sister died a long time ago."
"How could you say such things about me?" I mumble
"What happened to mom?" he asked in an accusing tone. I really should have talked about this. I had an ample amount of time to avoid this very situation.
"Oliver, I was going to tell you-"
"You were going to tell me how you sucked all the blood out of mothers body and then threw her to the savages?" What?!
"What?! I did no such thing-"
"Save your lies! All you've ever done is lie to me. This whole castle is filled with liars! The only person telling me the truth is Daine." That bastard!
"Daine is the last person you should trust," I growl and he lowers his weapon and looks at me incredulously.
"And who should I trust? The thing that murdered my mother?"
"Look I know you're upset...and you don't know who to listen too. But I can assure you that I'm the person to trust, not Daine. He probably manipulated your thoughts about me, but you're my brother."
"I already told you that you are nothing but a beast to me," he replied with a shake of his head. The door opened to my room, and Oliver looked up at the light that shines in his face.
"Oliver?" Damien questioned with a smile. Oliver facial expression did not change from its grim state as he lowered the weapon that Damien couldn't see.
"How have you been? It's so good to see you." Damien continues as he walks closer to the two of us. Oliver looks him over before walking between the two of us and leaving out the chambers without a single word. Damiens smile wavers as he turns to me,
"Is it something I said?" he asks, and I roll my eyes
"Please just leave," I grumble as I make my way over to my curtains. My own brother just tried to kill me all because of some lie that Daine told him. The last thing that I want is to hear any more disappointing news from Damien. I'm just getting sick of the emotional rollercoaster and for right now, I just need to get off. Damien looks taken aback by my request.
"I just wanted to say-"
"Damien, please just go. I can't right now." He instantly closed his mouth and formed a grim line. I walked away from the curtains as he walked out of the room. I decided to just go to sleep and try to ignore my problems.
My mind was swarming, and I felt myself sweating. My brother wants to kill me. My own fucking brother wants to kill me, and Daine is scrambling another of my family members brains. Not surprisingly I can't get a single ounce of sleep.
I tossed, turned and groaned in my bed. Suddenly I felt a bolt of electricity run up my arm. I pulled the covers off me and leaned up. I looked down at my arm and saw something dark red slither up my arm. My arm started trembling, and I watched in horror as my hand grew twice its size. What the hell is happening to me?
