I giggled as shirtless Damien wrapped his arm around me lovingly and placed sweet kisses along my neckline. I kissed him tenderly and pulled away. We were sprawled out on our bed in his personal chambers. Being in his arms made all my worries drift away, and it felt amazing.
I noticed something sitting in the corner of the room. I moved to the side and spotted Daine sitting across from our bed in a large armchair. He had his legs crossed and one hand resting up under his chin. He looked like he was deep in thought and I looked between the two.
When did he get here? How did we not hear him coming? I should have definitely heard someone walking into our bedroom and sitting in the armchair. Since I've turned into a vampire, I could basically hear a bird's breath, but I can't hear someone entering my bedroom. Finally, he moved his leg and looked directly at me,
"Hello little Addeline," he replied with a smile. His eyes burned bright red as he said my name. His smile was devious yet not unsettling. Oddly I felt calm; perhaps my curse was peaceful near his. Either way, it freaked me out. I sat up and clutched the covers to my chest.
"What the hell are doing in my bedroom?" I whisper/ yell at him. Is this a horrible dream? And why is Damien just staring at me like his older brother is not sitting nearly two feet away from us?
"Firstly, let's get rid of that." he notions to my beloved and in an instant he disappears. I look between the empty space where he once was and at his red-eyed brother. How did he... yeah, this must be a dream.
"I'm dreaming," I mutter to myself. Daine holds his hands up with a playful smile now dancing on his lips.
"I know what your thinking. If this is your dream why would I be here? Good question. I'm here because I placed myself into your dreams to give you a warning."
"A warning?"
"Yes, believe it or not, I am nice enough to give those."
"Where were those warnings when you tore apart all those helpless werewolf children and townsfolk?" He chuckled
"They were a necessary sacrifice." Ugh, what an asshole.
"Anyway, let's talk about you. I just want to let you know personally that I'm coming for you," Daine replies as the smile that was once on his face diminished. His face was eerie grim, and it made my stomach plummet to the ground.
"And I don't mean send an errand boy to do my dirty work. I mean after I'm done tearing the vocal cords out of my brother's throat, I going to tear you limb from limb." His threat sent chills down my body, but shockingly it made me a bit excited.
How odd that his presence makes my curse more vocal than ever before. The first time it ever presented itself is when Alina brought up my departed mother. But now I can feel the curse rolling around in glee at the mere mention of a fight.
"Do you know the most amusing part of that entire sentence?" His eyes narrowed
"You actually believe that you have a fighting chance against me." I smiled. Right behind the armchair that Daine is sitting in is a large mirror. The same mirror that I happened to notice my past baby bump. I saw my bold red eyes staring back at me and knew that my curse was way more in charge than I thought.
"Are you challenging me?" he questions with a hint of irritation.
"You come into my dreams, sending empty and non-threatening words towards me and you think you have the upper hand here?" I reply entirely calm, but my red eyes are blazing.
I stood to my feet with the cover wrapped protectively around my body. I approached him slowly and stopped right in front of the chair. I instantly reached out and gripped his throat.
