Morgan's POV

Kidnappings- I was becoming used to them. Regrettably, they seemed to have become an almost daily part of my life. At least  they were only attempted kidnappings, thankfully I usually got away safely. I had only been caught once. It had taken me an entire week of plotting and planning my escape before I managed to do it. I could not go through it again. I had to ensure that I would never be caught.

My heart pounded; the fear inside me stabbed at me like a knife entering and retracting slowly. The crimson liquid trickling slowly down my leg from the gash in my upper thigh. I watched and in horror as the thick red blood seeped through my thick cotton pants.

Sadly, I was becoming used to having to fight for my life. The frantic running through the woods, and jumping behind trees as he searched for me; it had all become commonplace for me now. My willingness to survive and make a better life for myself was the only thing that got me safely through his attempts at capturing me.

The golden sun shone down on me for a short time. I stopped for a moment to take in its beauty, its raw, unquestionable beauty. I looked at it through squinted eyes, but it was so alluring that I became distracted for a second too long. As I moved slowly to my left, I stepped on a broken twig which snapped loudly beneath my feet. The noise seemed to echo through the woods and return almost instantly back to me revealing my location.

I felt strong muscular arms grab me around my waist. A filthy hand covered my mouth. I could taste the dust on it as he placed it on top of my lips. He was here to kidnap me. The last time that I had escaped him, he had promised me that I would never survive if he managed to capture me again. I could not help but wonder if this was the last time, if this was my last and ultimately futile battle with him.

I struggled against his grip, knowing that I needed to escape as quickly as I could. It was not an easy task, but I had learned how to target his weak spots due to our frequent encounters.

My brain was whirling as I attempted to concentrate. It felt like it was going to explode, I tried to focus on my actions only. My eyes were attracted towards the sky above us. I desperately missed my grandmother, my intensity so strong and clear that I could almost imagine the arms were hers hugging me tightly. I had lived with her for all of my life. She was the only person that I could truly say that I had loved. I knew that I could not dwell on the past now. If I wanted to have a future, I needed to get as far away from him as I could. The years of martial arts training that I had gone through suddenly came back to me. Suddenly, strength surged inside my body. Being a young girl facing a huge man was a disadvantage, but I was not going to leave him win.

The sun began to fade back into the sky which formed its backdrop. The continuous expanse of blueness changed to a dark grey and the white clouds became almost black. The hand which covered my mouth dropped slightly as he noticed the phenomenon which I had become distracted by. This was my opportunity. I bit hard into his hand, the dirt on his hand stung against my tongue. At that moment, he let out a pained scream and shook his hand in the cold evening air. A few drops of blood trickled slowly from it. Once he realised that I had been the cause of his pain, he knew that I had a plan. We had become used to each others ways. It was both an advantage for me and a disadvantage. His gritted hand quickly returned back to my mouth, this time tighter. Initially I gasped as I struggled to breathe through my nose. He was determined to silence me once again.

His eyes were still glued to the sky above us I realised, and my gaze followed his. Something strange was happening above us. I had never witnessed anything like it before.
