Gorran's POV:

The feet continued to pound relentlessly in my direction. I remained glued to the spot, in a state of absolute fear. One deep breath was all I could manage as I prepared myself for the attack. I knew that within seconds I would be pinned to the ground. I promised myself that I wouldn't struggle, I would not give them that satisfaction. With no idea of what Jacob's plans were for me, I swore to myself that I would remain strong throughout it all.

Hands reached out towards me and I felt Francois drop his grip from my hands. There was no point in him holding onto me. Although, I was not aware of what was going to happen to me, he was and there was no point in him holding onto me any longer, I had no chance of escaping. He left out a scream and my fear for my safety immediately rose. If he was frightened enough to scream and possibly reveal the small friendship that we had developed with each other, I should be very worried.

The hands had continued past forward past me on their mission. I followed the noise erupting from Francois's mouth. He had been tackled to the ground. I wondered if my punishment would be to see him being hurt, maybe even murdered because of me. Jacob must have found out about the warning that Francois had given him and this was his reaction to it.

His screams continued to echo around the small stone-walled stairwell. I had to do something to help him. He had tried to protect me, to warn me and this was how he was being treated as a result.

With a renewed energy, I set my eyes on his attacker. My fingers gripped the pressure point close to his elbow tightly and I witnessed his grip on Francois loosen slightly. I placed one leg between his and raised my other to kick him behind his knee, he feel to the ground with a low growl emitting from his lips.

Hands gripped me from behind. It wasn't tight and they did not seem to want to injure me. However, I was not going to stand by and let them injure Francois. Jacob would not succeed in his plan. He could do whatever he wanted with me and I would not resist. It was not fair however, for Francois to become caught up in the middle of my mess, my mistake.

"It's okay, we don't want to hurt you," the person behind me said as I prepared to knock him to the floor. His words would not help him. Just like Francois, the man had chosen to work for the organisation, but Francois had been the only person there who had find with the ability to be kind. Being in danger no longer bothered me, but I was not going to leave an innocent person suffer once again because of mine. It had happened far too many times already.

My eyes followed his body as I placed him carefully down on the floor. I wanted to prevent him from hurting either of us, but I was not willing to injure him in the process. If I did that, I would be just as bad as him. Francois lay face down on the floor, but appeared unharmed.

I was suprised that I had not been attacked by anyone else since I had knocked their accomplice. There had been at least ten people running towards me earlier. I looked around me and realised that they had formed a circle around me. Nobody spoke and nobody moved.

A woman approached me slowly, almost cautiously. Her face formed a wide smile as she saw me and I could not continue my shock. I ran through the circle towards her and wrapped my arms around her. She was the last person who I had expected to see. Once again, she had chosen the exact time that I needed her most to come and help me. I could only hope that she was not going to be caught by Jacob. This could have all been part of his plan. I knew that I had to get her out of there and quickly.

"April," I whispered. It was difficult for me to speak with the amount of shock I was feeling. I did not want to leave my guard down, but it appeared that the attackers had even stopped to witness our reunion. "It's not safe for you here, you have to leave."
