"Are you sure that we're not lost?" I glanced over at Luke and he had a smile on his face.
He ignored me as we pulled into a gravel parking lot. "I'm sure."
"Come here," Luke took my hand after grabbing a blanket from the trunk. He pulled me down a hill and a gasp escaped from my lips.
"Isn't it gorgeous?"
We were looking down on the city lights which speckled the ground like the beginning of a first snow. "Are we watching the sunset?"
"Yes," Luke replied. He was sitting on the blanket which he spread out on the ground. He opened his arms and I sat next to him, resting my head on his shoulder.
"This is perfect. It's so beautiful." The sun began to set, coloring the sky a rainbow of colors.
"Just like you."
I shook my head, and looked at my feet, but I couldn't help the smile that was on my face.
"You're too sweet," I sighed, and leaned back into his arms.
Thirty minutes later, the sun had set and we were just relaxing in each other's arms.
"There's this kid, Ryan, at the cancer hospital that I visit every few weeks. Last time I went he told me that he had only ever been to one party and it gave me the perfect idea. I'm going to plan a party for him. I was thinking that I could do it at the daycare one day when there are no kids."
"I see where you're going with this," Luke wrapped his arms around my middle, and rested his chin on my shoulder. "Yes, I'll help."
"I wasn't going to ask you for help," I giggled.
"Well I want to help anyways," I could feel him kiss my shoulder. "I love bringing joy to kids."
"Okay," I shifted, sitting criss cross in front of him so I could look at him. "Let's get started."
I gave him a rundown of what was going on with Ryan and his condition.
"He's in a wheelchair so it can't be too active. But he is a genius and we always play chess together when I visit."
"I have an idea," Luke whispered.
"Why are you whispering?" I laughed, whispering back.
"Why not?" He replied, before telling me his plan.
I couldn't help but smile as I heard Luke's plan. I knew that Ryan would love it. I couldn't wait to call his parents and talk to them about it.
"Want to head back?" We folded the blanket and I carried it to his car before getting it.
On the drive back, my eyes started to droop and I laid my head back on the headrest, letting them close. I felt a smile develop on my lips as I thought about the events of today. Luke was truly an incredible person. There was definitely something between us. I couldn't help but be happy when I was around him. It helped that Rose liked him just as much. I felt like I needed Rose's approval even if she was only five.
I felt a hand on my shoulder, "Ally," I opened my eyes to find Luke's face level with mine. "Now that's what I like to see, those beautiful eyes of yours."
"Oh no, I'm sorry," I murmured, still not fully aware of my surroundings.
"We're back."
I looked out the window and surely enough, we were back at my apartment.
"Let me walk you," Luke told me as I stepped out of his car.
As I was jingling around in my purse for my house keys, I heard a voice through the door, "Ally?"
