Adriane felt much better after Shiny comforted her, she and Shiny rushed outside the castle, but the scene in front of their eyes was enough to make them shut their eyes as tight as possible. A police officer walked up to her, demanding to know where that black wolf was. "Which wolf? I didn't see a black wolf anywhere near here." Adriane replied, her voice was shaky, full of dread. "That one!" he pointed behind her and sure enough it was Dreamer he was talking about! "That wolf went insane and tried to attack some tourists at the Ravenswood Wildlife Preserve! I saw him myself, eyewitness!" the officer pulled out a syringe full of yellow liquid, there was no mistaking it, it was a....tranquilizer dart? Fiery determination flared inside Adriane! No way was she ever going to let him hurt her bonded! "You're lying! Dreamer would never do anything like that! He's practically domesticated!" Adriane shouted, raising her voice as the officer silently aimed at the midnight-black wolf, Adriane stood directly in front of Dreamer her hands outstretched to both sides, bravely shielding him with her entire body. "Adriane! Calm down!" Shiny cried while rushing as fast as she could towards her, only to be delayed by large tree stumps and roots. "Don't believe me? Than how would you explain this!?" The officer reached into his pocket, dropped the tranquilizer dart inside, grabbed a newspaper and shoved it in front of her face! The newspaper read: Wolf Attack on Ravenswood! A black wolf was recently spotted attempting to attack the tourists there, this wolf is dangerous to the public safety of Pennsylvania and must be put under the effect of anesthesia and keep in captivity until further notice. "That's a lie! I bet the mayor ordered the press to do that!" Adriane clenched her fists, ready to fight. "Well I'm sorry, but I have to do this, it was the mayor's order." The officer withdrew the newspaper and pulled out the tranquilizer dart once more. "Never! He didn't attack anyone! If you want to get him you'll have to pass through me as well!!!" Adriane snarled, violently shaking her head. He ignored her, and threw the dart at Dreamer, it flew by her so fast that Adriane could do nothing, absolutely nothing, as she watched the dart hit its target. The officer promptly left, leaving her to her sorrow. "Dreamer!" Adriane fell to her knees behind her packmate, sobbing. "D-Dreamer?!" she was waiting for a response from him, something, anything! Nothing happened. Silence was all she heard. "This is all my fault! I brought this on you!" Adriane sobbed into his soft, silky fur. Dreamer was her packmate, her bonded. But she had let him down. She couldn't protect him. Now because of her, more officials would be back to take Dreamer away. She started to cry, tears falling like raindrops down her face as the yellow liquid sank into his fur. ("Adriane what happened?!" Shiny teleported in front of her, her face flooded with shock. "Oh no....." Shiny hung her head, Adriane thought this was her fault, when in reality it wasn't, she was being overwhelmed with guilt and shame.) She tried to help him, but it was all too fast for her, she couldn't defend him fast enough. Chain's words echoed in her mind: humans always betray their packmates. She did exactly what Chain told her: She had betrayed her packmate.
