Chapter 23: Rescue

Flashback

Dreamer slashed at Adriane's chest, his claws digging into her skin, leaving deep blood-ridden gashes as a result. "Dreamer! Please...stop..." Adriane's breath was slowing, pangs of distress and guilt overrode her mind. "Dreamer...can you hear me? Please....please don't.....hurt Shiny, she's one of my best friends and.......and I don't want anything bad to happen to her. Dreamer......forgive me...........packmate................" End of flashback
"What-what happened? Am I dead yet?" Adriane asked herself groggily, finding herself in a field of lush, emerald-green grass surrounded by paper flowers. "Adriane!" Shiny exclaimed as she lied down next to her friend. "Are you all right? I was worried sick about you!" her voice filled with worry and concern. "I'm alright now. I just feel a little tired, that's all. No need to worry." Adriane was wide awake now, watching the purple sky fly over them. "Hey Shiny? What happened to me? Did I die already?" Adriane slowly turned her head to face her friend. "No, no Adriane you're not dead. But you were close to! After you blacked out, I didn't know what to do! You were covered with gashes and dried blood! You were getting closer to death with every passing second, so I did what I had to do. First I used Heal Pulse to restore your health,preventing you from dying. Heal Pulse removed all of you wounds but you still needed time to recover (since Heal Pulse only heals up to a certain point), so I used Sleep Powder as soon as you were rendered unconscious, that's why you're a little tired. I also used Fly to bring you here, so that's why you woke up here." Shiny explained, scanning the area for danger, ears perked up in alertness. "Thank yo-ahhhhhhhhhhhh!" Adriane screamed in terror, shaking her head wildly hands covering her eyes.

Flashback: Storm please don't leave me! Please Storm!" Adriane was wrapping her wolf fire around Storm . "Packmate...." Storm was cut off as larger rocks rained down all around them. "No! No! Noooooo! Don't leave me!" Her eyes were brimming with tears, she ran to Storm desperately, she would not lose her packmate not now, not ever! "S-S-Storm?" Her eyes searched frantically, but it was dark and hard to see. There was no sign of Storm. She reached her hands out to the sky, but her fingers clutched only air. "Storm! Storm!" "STOOOOOORRRRRRRRMMMMM!" The chamber collapsed.
End of flashback

"No! No! NOOOOOOO! DON'T LEAVE MEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Adriane shouted, yearning for freedom of the memories concerned with her tragic past. "Why..why won't these...memories...go away?" she asked, panting and out of breath. "Adriane what's going on?" Shiny was useing Mind Reader, trying to pinpoint the source of her sudden fear. "I know well what lies...beyond my sleeping refuge: the nightmare......I built my.....own world to escape!" was Adriane's reply. Shiny's face was as pale as a sheet: Flashbacks,terror,loss, they all added up to one thing: PTSD. Peace was disrupted however, without warning the black mistwolf rushed at Adriane, sending her flying against a nearby tree! The warrior crashed down mid-flight, leaving her dazed. Dreamer snarled viciously,about to go in for the kill when-"Stop!". Emily's voice broke in, the mistwolf froze in his tracks, no longer snarling. Soothing waves of turquoise healing magic strayed from Emily's heart-shaped gemstone, wrapping themselves around Dreamer, releasing Chain's malevolent spirit from the mistwolf's body. "Dreamer!" Adriane cried out in joy,embracing him, her bonded was back to normal again! "Thank you so much Emily!" the warrior acknowledged her friend in gratitude, beaming at her. "No problem!" Emily smiled brightly at Adriane, overjoyed to see her again! "Wait how did you get here Emily?" Shiny asked curiously, both she and Adriane turned to look at her. "Oh it's simple really, I just walked over here after both of you fell through that portal a while ago. But it took me like, 5 hours!" Emily explained, turning her gaze from them and staring in amazement at the paper flowers blowing gently in a warm breeze. Her vision soon returned to her friends, "Did I miss anything?" she asked eagerly. Adriane smiled faintly, no one knew her secret yet, or the words haunting her mind. Shiny quickly described what happened since they'd disappeared through the portal, Emily's expression changed constantly as she listened with intent, anxious at the turn of events that overtook her friends. Just as Shiny was about to finish however, Adriane felt a large pain in her chest, diamond light cutting the mood, slicing it to pieces. In Adriane's mind, that could only mean one thing.........
