Several minutes later, Aurora and I found ourselves in front of a large black castle, we only had a moment to draw in our breath, before Jafar pushed the door open, and lightly pushed us in.
"You guys are lucky," he whispers sadly, "it nap time here in the Dark Lands, so the only villain you'll talk to for now is (sigh) Maleficent."
"What's wrong with Maleficent?" Aurora said, shrugging. Jafar didn't respond, but raised his head slowly as a door in one corner of the room opened, and a figure entered.
Maleficent hadn't changed a bit, except for the fact that she seemed a little taller, I heard Aurora draw in a shaky breath, I turned my head to look at her to see her jaw open and her silver eyes wide. I feel slightly confused, but the sound of Maleficent clearing her throat snaps me from my thoughts.
"So, you princesses are finally here...what a predicament." Maleficent turns her attention towards Jafar, she snaps her fingers twice and points to an empty spot on her right.
"Come, and do change out of that snake form!" she says sharply, Jafar winced, but obediently he slithered towards the spot, and slowly he began to change; his long tail seemed to be disappearing behind him and slowly I could see his turban, his cape and his staff steadily take form.
When his transformation was complete, he paused only briefly before turning around to face us.
Jafar hadn't changed a bit but there was something about him that struck me as odd; he seemed somewhat weaker, his eyes seemed lifeless and dull, he wasn't smiling but instead was looking nervously at the ground, his eyes every now and then darting towards Maleficent, his hands shook nervously, and his right hand was clutching his staff so tightly his knuckles were white.
I looked at Jafar quietly, and felt confused.
I don't get it, this isn't the Jafar I remember from before. Why is he so...afraid? I thought, but I turned my attention back towards Maleficent.
"I know you guys didn't mean to come her, but as the rules go, here in the Dark Lands, you will be placed in prison until the rest of us villains decide what to do with you. Isn't that right my beloved?"
She turned her head to look at Jafar, and saw his eyes were studying the floor and the purple and black rug. Maleficent raised her hand above her head, a rush of fear came over me, and I opened my mouth to ask what she was going to do.
And then she slapped him. Not a playful slap, a hard one.
Jafar stumbled, but regained his balance, a large red hand print could be seen on his left cheek.
"Yes of course my beloved." He said quickly and nervously, his eyes glossy with a hint of tears.
I stood there staring, my jaw now shut and my eyes wide, she had just hit him, a hard slap which must have stung. Jafar didn't love Maleficent, he was bind to her by an abusive relationship.
Which made him just. like...
me.
