Regretting and Reflecting

I wasn't going to be leaving this room any time soon, I knew that, but I couldn't help wishing I could get out. Being locked up in my room gave me way too much time to think, mostly about the fact that I would never see my beloved Ruby ever again. It also made me think of other things, like how much better of a ruler Jafar would be if he was Sultan. And to think it never would have crossed my mind if I hadn't fallen in love with him.

A soft knock came from the door and I raised my tear-stained face up from my pillows. "(Sniff) Yeah? Who is it?" "Genie, and Abu, and carpet." A familiar voice said. "Can we come in?" I wiped the remaining tears off my cheeks. "Yes." The door opened slowly and the three of them stepped into the room. I probably would have been able to run out the door but I knew I wouldn't get far.

"What's up Jasmine?" Genie asked, kind and caring as always. "And what's up with that ruby?" Startled, I realized I was still clutching the ruby Jafar had given me to my chest. "N-nothing." I stammered, my cheeks going red at the thought of them finding out. "Come on Jasmine, you can tell us." I smiled slightly, looking them over. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." I said. "Try us." Genie replied. I sighed, knowing perfectly well there was no getting out of this.

"Well, okay. It all started when Mickey came in with a mission..."

So I told them. I told them everything, making sure not to leave out a single detail. When I was done, they were all stiff and stunned.

"So that's why you stayed over there for a month." Genie said. "It was only a month?" I asked. And to think, it felt so much longer then that. I thought. "Okay, Jasmine..." Genie said. "I have to know, do you really love Jafar?" I hesitated, not because I was thinking it over but because I wasn't sure what they'd think. "Yes," I said confidently, "yes I do."

Genie didn't say anything, not at first. "Well then, I guess I have to help you." I was shocked. "Y-you mean you don't mind?" I asked, hardly believing my ears. "I may not like Jafar, but I know true love when I see it. If you want to go back to him, I'm more then willing to help." For a moment, I was too stunned to do anything, then I hugged him tightly. "You are the best friend in the world." I whispered happily, tears gathering in my eyes.
