It took a few minutes, but eventually we managed to come up with a plan. There was a special path Genie knew about that lead to a secret garden where Alice and Queenie used to play croquet. If I could get out of here, I could meet Jafar there and we could talk every night but have to leave each other in the morning.
"It's not much but it's the only option we have." Genie said. "Now all we have to do is wait until everyone's asleep."
After about ten minutes, Genie came back into my room saying Aladdin was fast asleep. I pulled out my old street mouse disguise, and slipped out the window on carpet. With my heart logged nervously in my throat, I flew quietly over Agrabah, Genie was right beside me. When we passed the border, we sped off to the dark forest.

"Are you sure this is the right place?" I asked. I was now standing in a small overgrown field, looking up nervously at the moon. "Positive." Genie said. "By the way, " I asked, "how did you tell Jafar we were meeting here in the first place?" "I have my ways." Genie replied, a smile on his face. I rolled my eyes, knowing perfectly well he wouldn't be telling me his secret any time soon.
"So you aren't working for Aladdin anymore." The two of us whirled around to see Jafar standing several feet away. "Ruby!" I shouted, before rushing over and throwing myself in his arms. He smiled and happily swept me up in his grasp. For a moment, I let my head rest on his chest, wishing this could last forever. But sadly, I raised my head and stood next to him, letting his arm wrap around my waist.
"Are you sure you won't tell Aladdin about this?" Jafar asked, looking at Genie with a nervousness only I could detect. "Of course not, " Genie replied, "as I told Jasmine, I may not like you, but I know true love when I see it." "Uh, thanks?" Jafar said, I laughed and lightly squeezed his hand. "He'll help in any way he can." And Jafar smiled, knowing I was right. I couldn't help smiling back, knowing that now I was with my beloved, everything would turn out alright.
