Yuki's POV

Yet again another town to stop in before I finally arrive in Central, and in every town I would sit to listen to Penelope talk about every little detail with such energy. However I feared for her, with her going back into the topic of the Fifth Lab things could get risky. Even now she's past the point of no return. I'm surprised there wasn't any riots on the streets right now. As far as the events of the lab, I was not aware of what happened with Penelope, much like how little she most likely knows about what happened with me. What I remember is that I came across something strange.

My thoughts were shortly interrupted by buzzing heard by a nearby radio set making everyone in it's shush and silence whoever they could. At this point I was already aware of what was happening now, Penelope continues the stories. Her voice was recognizable but different through the radio, as if she was forever talking through a telephone. "So the caper, at the Fifth Lab continues once more. We'll be staying up a little later than usual to tell the story so grab your late cups of coffee on this one." The announcement made the majority let a minor round of discussion. "Now, I'm unaware of what happened with Al and Yuki, so if you wanna know what their adventure that night was like, don't talk to me about it. We all end up in the same place at the end of it all, inside that lab facing an immediate life or death situation. But I've done enough stalling, let's start right now."

As everyone started to become immersed in her recap and her explanation of the blood seal I looked over to the flight of stairs in the room next door. Grabbing all my belongings and the keys to my room I walked towards them in silence.

Flashback

When Ed and Penelope everything went absolutely quiet where Al and I were. The two of them being alone in a place like this worried me, but I had to really force myself not to hold any concern for them. If I could name one thing they didn't want me to do it was to worry and then becoming reckless. After what seemed like hours both Al and I heard out a battle cry coming closer to us. Looking up, we saw a man in a suit of armor coming towards us with a kitchen knife and a cleaver with them inching closer and closer to us. Without even a second thought Al grabbed my shoulders pulling me away from the mess and the battle about to ensue. The man giggled like a madman and rose from the dirt. "You move quickly for a big thing~~" He managed to get out past his obnoxious stream of giggling.

"Who are you?" I inquired starting to feel the adrenaline starting to move through my body from the attack.

The armored man laughed and spoke, "Ooo so demanding, I guess I should answer! I'm Number 66, though that's what they call me at work!"

"Your Number 66?" Al questioned.

"Yes!!" 66 howled with excitement that seemed very giddy, like his couldn't control himself. "I have a proper name too, but if I told you, you'd be so shocked you'd wet yourself! I'll tell you both when I'm peeling your skin!"

Humankind cannot gain without first giving something in return. To obtain something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we thought that was the world's one and only truth.
