Later that night after I had eaten with Sephora and Sechi and told them of everything that Mendes spoke with me about, we all went to bed with nervous hearts. I slept with Sephora as she would not allow me to stay on their floor but I couldn't sleep.

All I could think about was what would happen if they figured out that I wasn't from here, well hell, I wasn't even from this century! They would think I was a witch and persecute me just like they did to everyone else that didn't fit into their social norms. It was no scratch off their backs if they decided to rip out my heart from my chest as a sacrifice to one of their gods.

I needed to leave Sephora and her son before things got too out of hand and they became associated with me. If they thought me to be a witch then they would kill my friends without hesitation. I knew they risked a lot by sheltering me so that's why I decided to wait until they were asleep to run away.

I figured I could steal a boat as I tracked my way back to the Nile and travel up river to see what lay ahead.

When I heard snores and I made sure Sephora was fast asleep I gently got out of bed and made my way to the changing area where I put back on my old dress that Sephora gave me and decided to take some food and wrap it in my head wrap. I figured no one would be out so it would be fine.

As I closed the door softly I noticed some mud to my right and had an idea. I quickly splattered it  over my exposed skin leaving me to look darker than my naturally fair complexion, I could have even pass as a local. That way if I did need to encounter someone I could just put my wrap back on and look no different than one of the common indentured women.

I made out to the familiar path to the Nile and thought darkly of what all the possibilities lay ahead. The air was cool and suddenly I felt a whisper of a tickling breath upon my neck. It was just the same as the one from in the temple. I made haste and after thirty minutes or so, the water came into view and I looked out at the Nile.

Reeds sprouted all along the water's edge and just as the wind died down I suddenly felt the ground shake violently as I realized with horror that men on horseback were galloping toward me at full speed. I hurriedly ran down to the bank and tried to hide in the water within the tall grass and reeds and secretly prayed that nothing would come and eat me.

I heard whoops and shouts as the men rode their horses along the water and I heard a few of them jump down from their saddles. It was then that I had finally noticed with the absurd thought that I could clearly hear and speak ancient Egyptian tongues.

Wow I was actually insane for thinking about this when at any moment I could be found out. I heard splashes and stopped breathing, I could hear my veins rush and my heart pounding.

A hand suddenly shot out at me and grasped my arm pulling me from my hiding spot. I tried fighting my captor but he was too strong. It was then that I realized there were soldiers surrounding me and the man in front of me. At a closer glance I could tell he seemed to be of much importance as he wore a silken cloth around his hips and had gold chains and gems around his neck.
