ESME

I knew she would not forgive me for what I had done but I knew it was for the best.

We had traveled through three-thousand-years into the past for her to be with Him. I could not yet figure out the significance of it but I knew it must be great for a demon like Julius to come after her. I looked around warily noticing our surroundings for the first time since we arrived. Upon my calculations we had landed not far from the palace where Memphis resided.

It was almost daybreak and I knew I had to get her to where she would be noticed by a guard. I looked over at the girl's sleeping form near to where I stood. She would endure much, but I could see a strong and resilient character in her. I set to work on moving her and made sure that I would not be detected.

GENERAL MENDES

It had been more than two weeks since Lady Stark was kidnapped and there had been only phantom rumors of where she could have been spotted. With each passing day, the thought of her returning, even her survival, held odds that were slim to none. I was surprised when the Pharaoh Memphis did not give up by the third day. If he was not shouting out orders at the guards or leading some of the search parties, you could find him sitting in the room Lady Stark had used.

I sighed and made my way through the hallways.

I was heading over to the stables to grab a horse to head out and check the city once again for any signs of her. I had heard rumors from my special task force that there were signs that a Hittite spy had infiltrated the great city and I knew I would have to deal with that soon. I had told Memphis this but he only waived his hand saying it wasn't his concern right now, his mind was filled only with a beautiful pale woman.

I had figured it was about time though that the Hittitian King would send his spy since this was the last place his daughter had been spotted right before her mysterious disappearance. But I couldn't imagine that she was actually missing, that it was all probably just a ploy to wage a war and try to conquer Egypt for their own selfish goals.

Most likely Lady Stark was just a tool for them to use to get what they wanted from our Pharaoh.

I wondered why Memphis was so keen on finding Leylila, it was clear he was fascinated by her unusual appearance before, but now... I was at the top of the great front stairs when I noticed a figure holding what appeared to be a woman's body.

That couldn't be good.

I silently tried to get closer so as not to spook the woman placing the other person's body on the ground. But it was no use as she immediately looked up and noticed my proximity.

"Hey, you there! Wait, I order you to come back here!"

The woman sprinted with unusual and supernatural speed away from the body she had just placed on the ground. I was just about to chase after her when I noticed the body that was left behind.
