Leylila lives in the 21st century with her family in Cairo, Egypt and her Father is the very rich and esteemed archaeologist Santiago Fitorie. But one day when Leylila goes with her father and brothers to a newly discovered tomb, she finds a hidden...
And that meant at least five minutes of no talking and him walking and me feeling like a fat-ass even though he had yet to break a sweat while holding me and walking up these f*cking steep ass stairs in the crappy sun.
I was sooo not feeling this awkward moment. Once at the top I immediately jumped out of his arms and almost fell on my ass, but luckily I saved myself from further embarrassment.
God knew I had my faults and pride was one of them, but damn, I had a long day and I was still alive so me being the positive freaking polly that I was, counted that as a plus to an ever growing list of negatives in my life right now.
"Hm well it seems you've caught yourself a lily, haven't you Memphis?"
I heard a familiar woman's voice and actually cringed when I turned around and faced the Pharaoh's sister/fiancé, Asisu. And boy, did she look ticked off that her future husband carried me up that flight of stairs.

I did my little attempt at a curtsy to see if that would show her that I respected her and wasn't trying to step on any little royal toes but it actually seemed to piss her off even more.
Bitch.
It was then that I decided I wasn't going to like this woman.
"It seems that the slave woman that I caught earlier today is having the sun sickness and have ordered her to a room and have a physician keep to her for the time being."
That surprised both me and Asisu but I quickly hid my shock and bowed my head so that I didn't show any more emotion today, it seemed like I was doing a lot of that at the moment and now was not the time to show any weaknesses, I told myself.
"You cannot be serious Memphis! She is just an ugly slave girl! You should put her in the torture chamber for turning her pale back on a King and fleeing! Not to mention acting so disgraceful among the nobility!"
If I thought this bitch was pissed before, she was actually livid now and I winced at the amount of hatred she threw my way with her venous words. But I honestly just felt like she was jealous, plus I knew I was further from ugly than anything.
Where Asisu was tall, and willowy with short black hair and tanned skin, her brown eyes paled compared to well my pale skin and blue eyes. I was the complete and exact opposite of everything that she wasn't , and I'm sure it irked her when her fiancé carried up a strange woman some measly hundred stairs that everyone else seemed to be able to climb.
But I totally kept my mouth shut because no way was I going to say something and then really be put into the torture chamber. Nope. Not happening. But it seemed like I didn't have to say anything because Memphis said enough for the both of us.
