Business Trip

I was awoken the following morning by my mother. “Wake up Elliot. You must pack clothes and be ready to leave quickly, you must accompany your father on a business trip.” she finished talking and immediately scurried from the door, probably heading back to bed. I sighed in defeat knowing I couldn't get out of this. Being the eldest 'had its responsibilities' of course.

Sliding out of bed, I noticed the chill in the air. The sun had just risen and it hadn't quite warmed up yet. I changed into a pair of trousers and a matching shirt with traveling boots. I grabbed my shifting bag and stuffed it with a change of clothes and a snack. After washing my face with the fresh water, I made my way out to the front of the house where my father was patiently waiting.

“Morning father. So where is this urgent business meeting?” I asked casually as we walked towards the forest.

“Rimr-Mur.” {Present-day Blackpool, England} he stated coldly. Okay, I guess friendly chit-chat was out of the question. He went a separate way than I so we could change in private.

Once I was changed, I took to the air so father would know I was ready. I haven't been to Rimr-Mur since I was a child so I don't really remember the way.

After couple minutes, a dark red, almost black, dragon a little larger than me emerged from the trees. He had pitch black horns and mane. 'Come son.' father called as he took off, high into the sky, me following quickly. He wouldn't hesitate to leave me behind no matter how much he needed me there.

Business Trip; 17

We flew for about an hour and a half. After what had seemed like forever in complete awkward silence, the only sound being the occasional bird noise, I could see the magic field. Humans could not see the magic field because they were not magic, obviously.

As you go through a magical barrier, it kind of feels like going through a waterfall except it is really thick and there actually isn't any residue left on you. {Like walking through rubber.}

Within a few minutes we passed through the barrier into the enclosed space of the town. Unlike Kalr-Mak, Rimr-Mur filled up almost the whole magical bubble. In Kalr-Mak, you had a good 4 minutes of flying before you arrived over the village, but in Rimr-Mur, after about 30 seconds of flying you are in the village.

We stopped immediately after passing through the barrier and changed into our human forms. “What exactly are we doing here father?” I asked as I pulled on my boot.

“Business.” he stated gruffly.

“Yes, I understand that. But what kind of business exactly.” I pushed.

“You.” What?

“What do you mean me?” I asked, completely confused.

“You are alone. We have come here, to find your true mate.” Hold up.

What?!?!” I yelled as I jumped back.

“Well she is clearly not in Kalr-Mak. So we figured to stretch the boundaries and check around different cities and Rimr-Mur is the only village that has available women who have come of age.” he explained as if this was an alright, every-day thing.

“And you think I would just go along with this? I had a mate. And she was killed by the stupid king's grandfather along with my child.” I was steaming.

“You don't think I knew that? I-” I cut him off...

“And who is this we?!”

“Your mother and I.” he took a deep breath as I wiped the tears from my face, saying what happened aloud hurt, no matter how long it had been. “You weren't supposed to find out. Once you found her you
