Steve's POV
Natasha was laying on the white and disgustingly cleaned hospital bed. Her eyes were closed, she's fast asleep. Her skin was pale as always and her red hair messy. She had a blanket over her but you could see her baby bump through the cover. It's getting bigger. Fast. I've talked to the doctors but they don't know anything. They've never been in a similar situation. These kinds of things doesn't happen. But I can't blame them for not knowing. Two persons with different serums in their bodies that made us stronger. It sounds even crazy even though everyone's used to it by now. Natasha took Nick's passing hard. Last night was out of line. But she didn't mean any harm. She was blinded by hatred and sorrow. Natasha hasn't had a lot of men to look up to. I guess Nick was the closest thing she had to a father. The doctors said that she fainted because of one reason, and that wasn't because she drank to little water or was sick, she fainted of pain. Emotional pain. My heart hurts when I think about the amount of pain that exists in her beautiful body. So much pain that she didn't deserve. No one does, expect for the people who put it there. I took her hand in mine and gently rubbed my fingers over it. She was cold, as usual.
"I'm sorry."
I looked up at her face, her eyes wide open.
"Don't apologise." I said, kissing her cheek.
"Tony's mad?" She said.
"Worried. But not more than me."
She rolled her eyes.
"We're good." She said, putting a hand over her belly. A sad expression landed on her face.
"When's the funeral?" She asked, trying to hide her emotions.
"Tomorrow afternoon." I said, trying to not change my expression.
"Good." She said, taking a deep breath.
I looked at her stomach again.
"She's growing." I said smiling a little.
"He sure is." She said, smirking.
"I talked to the doctors, they have no idea. They've never seen anything like this before." I said with concern.
Natasha laughed.
"I would be surprised if they had." She said. Her laughs soon became quite when she saw my worried face.
"Steve. Stop it. It's going to be alright." She said. "And I'm gonna talk to Tony."
"He's a little pissed actually." I said chuckling a little.
She just smirked.
"Well I hope so, other wise, this was a waste of time."Natasha's POV
"Where can we find the Peter guy?" Steve said while sitting in a chair. It didn't look very comfortable but he didn't seem to bother. He always sat straight up anyway.
"Well we have a few areas where we think he will be.." Tony said and started look up some places around town.
"Isn't it better if we just make a visit to the one and only Alexander Pierce?" I said while carefully rubbing my hand over my belly.
"Why?" Tony asked.
"What do you mean why? He must be the one behind it all. He probably knows where Peter is." I said.
"But how could Alexander know? He's in jail." Tony said.
"Really?" I said looking at him. My eyebrow was raised in the highest possible level. "You haven't heard?"
"What?" Tony said confused.
"They let him out yesterday." I said. Steve just nodded along because I told him the news earlier today.
"How do you know that?" Tony asked curious.
"Tell me something she doesn't know." Steve said, smiling at me.
"Well then, let's start looking for Alexander. You two lovebirds can go home and take care of the bun." Tony said.
"Oh shut up Tony. You should go to Pepper. She told me she's angry with you. Might wanna solve that quickly.." I said as Tony got a nervous look on his face.
Steve and I started to go back to the car.
"Pepper and Tony got some issues?" Steve asked.
"Oh, no. I was just making that up." I said laughing. Steve laughed along.
We got into the car. Steve took the wheel since I wasn't in the best way to drive. Before Steve had started the car, I made a little scream. My hands went over my belly.
"What is it?!" Steve said worried.
"The baby. He's kicking." I said, smiling but scared at the same time.
I took Steve's hand and put it on my stomach.
"She's kicking." He said. A huge smile formed on his face.
He kissed my lips but didn't take his hand of my belly. The baby's fine. It's kicking. It's a good sign. Right? The baby's presence made me feel a little more calm. I wasn't going to disappoint him. I was going to make through this. For him.
