Natasha's POV

"Look Emma. Here's your future husband." Clint said as he sat down Nathaniel beside her. She laughed and Nathaniel looked at her suspiciously.
"Don't say that when Steve's around." I said seriously and Clint laughed.
"I'll watch my mouth." Clint said and I smirked. "But look, they're adorable." Clint said and I looked down at the two. Nathaniel who was old enough to walk and almost talk took care of Emma really carefully. He put his hands on her cheeks and smiled at her. Sometimes, he even kissed her forehead and gave her some of his toys. Emma just smiled and did whatever Nathaniel did. I couldn't help but smile at them and my heart took a skip as I looked at my little daughter and the smile on her face. Nothing made me happier.
"So how's Steve doing?" Clint asked and I shock my head.
"I don't know, he hasn't got in touch. I don't want to call because of his mission." I said and Clint nodded.
"I saw the things in the newspaper." He said and I shock my head.
"What the hell is wrong with those paparazzi's?" I said annoyed.
"Yeah, there's a reason I wanted my children out of it." He said and I nodded.
"Yeah. But it's pretty hard to hide her now." I said and Clint laughed.
"Yeah, her pretty face is on every newspaper in this country." He said and I looked at Emma again.
"What was that incident with the knife though?" He asked worryingly.
"Some woman bumped into me and began talking. Then when I walked away, she took up a knife and tried to stab me." I said and Clint shock his head in disgust.
"Did Emma scream or cry?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yeah. And if she hadn't I would have had a knife in my back." I said and Clint took a deep breath.
"It's crazy." He said and I nodded.
"Yeah, it's crazy." I said.
"Crazy." A little voice said and both Clint and I looked down at Nathaniel who smiled.
"What?" I said and Nathaniel clapped his hands.
"Crazy." Nathaniel said and Clint smiled bright and carried him up.
"You sure are little buddy!" Clint said as he held Nathaniel up in the air.
I smiled at them as quick steps could be heard at the stairs.
"Hey honey." I said as Lila came running downstairs with sleepy eyes. Her hair was in two braids as usual but I could tell she had grown since the last time I saw her. She ran to me and I gave her a tight hug.
"I've missed you." I said and she looked at me with a smile.
"I've missed you too." She said and I smiled. She looked at Emma and her face shined up as bright as it possible could. "Is this her? Is this Emma?" She laughed happily as she stroke her cheek.
"Yeah." I said smiling at her. Lila sat down next to her and put her up in her lap. Emma smiled bright and sat down comfortably. I looked over at Clint who was busy with Nathaniel and cooking breakfast. I got of my chair and sat down on the floor next to them.
"Lila I'm going to tell you a little thing that's very important." I said and Lila listened instantly. Lila nodded.
"I'm giving you a mission. I know you've always wanted one but your dad hasn't allowed you to get one." I said and Lila nodded in agreement and looked at her father. "But this is more of a life mission. Your mission is to always look after this little girl right here." I said as I pointed at Emma. "She's going to see you as her big sister. One of the best things in the world. And I know you're not sisters by blood, but sometimes, that doesn't matter. The most important bonds are the ones you choose yourself." I said and Emma took Lila's finger.
"I will always protect her." Lila said with a smile. "I love her just as much as I love you." Lila said and I smiled.
"But remember, this is a secret mission. You can only tell Emma about it. Okey?" I said and Lila nodded.
"Okey." She said and I kissed her cheek.
Clint came over at us and saw us whispering.
"What are you whispering about?" He asked and Lila laughed.
"It's a secret." She said and I nodded in agreement.
"Makes sense. Natasha love those." Clint said and I smirked at him.
"You're just mad because you don't know them all." I said and Clint made a fake grumpy face and Lila laughed.
"The deepest secrets lies in a woman's heart." Clint said and I laughed.
"I thought you were a hero, not a poet honey." Laura said as she came down the stairs with Cooper right beside her.
"Laura." I said with a smile. She looked at me quickly before her eyes were drawn to Emma.
"Look at that!" Laura said loudly. She went over to Lila and picked up Emma in her arms. She studied her face and stroke her hand over her head.
"You're a copy of your mother." She said and I smiled.
"Notice the hair." I said and Laura smirked.
"Aren't you a little beautiful being? Nathaniel is going to fall for you very quickly young lady." She said to Emma.
"I'm afraid he already has." Clint said as Nathaniel didn't take his eyes of my little girl. I smirked.
"I hear wedding bells." Laura said and Clint and I rolled out eyes at the same time.
"We'll se about that." Clint said with a laugh and I smiled.

Steve's POV

I walked trough the corridors with fast steps. The mission had been completed perfectly and I couldn't wait to get home. I smiled at the thought of my two girls sitting inside the apartment, watching tv or anything else totally normal.
I stepped through the hallway to the door to Natasha's apartment and I felt a chill up my spine. As I got closer, I realised that the door was opened and I felt that something was wrong. Natasha always locked the door, it doesn't matter if she's home or not. I carefully gave the door a push and it opened up. The sight made my body go soft in fear and I quickly stepped inside. The entire apartment was a mess. A mirror was laying on the floor crashed. All cups and plates were crashed on the floor. The living room table laid upside down. Clothes were over the entire floor. All Natasha's books were either thrown on the floor or in the sink full of water. It looked like someone had broke in and looked for something. Or someone. Where the hell are Natasha and Emma? Panic spread in my body and I checked all of the room. When I realised they were all empty I ran to my apartment while picking up my phone and calling Natasha. I got to my apartment and realised it was empty as well but looked as normal.
I was just about to hang up when Natasha answered.
"Steve? How did the mission go?" She said happily and I felt a flush of relief through my body.
"Where are you? You have to come home! Is Emma okey?" I asked nervously.
"She's fine. What happened? We're at the safe house. Visiting." She said and I nodded.
"Someone's been in your apartment. It's upside down." I said and Natasha went quiet.
"We'll be there in a hour." She said and hung up.

"What the hell." Natasha said as she stepped into the door with Emma in her arms. I smiled at them.
"I know I shouldn't be smiling in a situation like this one but I really missed you." I said as I walked over to them. I kissed Emma on the forehead and turned to Natasha. I smiled at her before I kissed her lips hard four times and then embraced her in a tight hug.
"You're okey." I said and Natasha smiled. She took a hold of my shirt and dragged me in for another kiss. She then gave me Emma and I held her tight in my arms. I looked at Natasha who looked around in her messed up apartment. She looked at me with a smirk.
"I'm lucky I don't own something that valuable. Except you too." She said and I gave her half a smile. She picked up a book from the floor and observed the entire apartment.
"Who could have done this?" I asked as Natasha picked up a note from the floor.
"Ivan." She said with a terrified look. She looked up at me and I saw something in her that I hated to see. Sadness.
