Dan's eyes always drifted to Phil.
The fans noticed it immediately. They always noticed when Dan even acknowledged Phil's existence by making eye contact, yet there were hundreds of photos, gifs, videos, et cetera of Dan practically identical to the heart eyes emoticon.
And Dan loved them.
He loved seeing the loving glances--stares at times--between him and Phil from another perspective: the view people who admired Phil almost as much as Dan did himself.
For that one reason, Dan didn't make an attempt to put a halt to the redundant claims of "Heart Eyes Howell." Besides, Phil Lester was a literal ray of sunshine; staring at him was a pleasure Dan never wanted to ditch.
