A/N: pretty clichéd, but i think it's pretty decent
(also i was listening to famous last words by my chemical romance while writing part of this so why not name the story after it? i 7000% recommend mcr if you don't listen to them by the way.)

Jenna Marbles was the first to have the words tattooed across her forearm. In a messy scrawl "I love you, mommy" was seared into her skin. No one in school passed recently nor did anyone in the area, meaning Jenna never met her soulmate and never would for they already passed.

The words always intrigued me, yet scared me at the same time. My mother already had her's -- "help" -- yet my father, who was still breathing fine, did not have his yet. My mother always claimed the words were bullshit and so were soulmates as her soulmate passed, yet she loved my father deeply. On the other hand, my grandmother had my grandfather's words seared across her forearm, which were etched in his handwriting the moment he passed. She always gazed at the words as if they were diamonds and spoke about my grandfather with a smile and tears in her eyes.

I wanted that. I wanted someone that would admire me as much as she did to my grandfather. I wanted someone I could love back just as much. I wanted my soulmate from the start, but you never quite knew who they were before they died on you or you died on them. Or even worse, the words randomly appeared without any death surrounding.

"What are you looking at them for?" Dan Howell, my best friend, questioned as we sat on the playground at age seven, shortly after Jenna got the words, as he noticed me looking in the direction of some girls on the slide.

"I want to find my soulmate," I told him, turning my eyes away from the girls. "Don't you?"

Dan shrugged. "No one will probably like me."

"Of course they will," I smiled. "You have a nice smile. And hair. And everything else really."

Dan smiled a bit, but turned his gaze to the wood chips below them.

"C'mon, let's go talk to the girls!" I jumped off the swing I was on and grabbed Dan's wrist and pulled Dan towards the group of girls despite Dan's complaints.

A decade later nothing changed.

"Please, Phil."

"I honestly don't give a shit what you say. You're coming with me," I replied, getting out of the drivers seat of the car and yanking open the passenger's side of the car and pulling Dan out of the car after running around the car. Dragging Dan into the large house, I stumbled over a liquor bottle and spotted girls mingling in the corner.

I smiled and made my way towards them, pulling Dan behind me. "See any you think you like?"

"Phil, can I please talk to you for a second?" he inquired, trying to halt my walk towards them.

"In a minute." I pushed my way to the girls.

"Oh, hi!" one of the girls said noticing our arrival, evidently intoxicated.

"I'm Phil and this is Dan," I gave a warm grin and motioned at Dan, who gave a small smile that was clearly forced.

"I'm Cat," another girl said, inching towards Dan.

Dan backed away slightly, but Cat took another step closer and reached for Dan's arm.

"Excuse us," Dan said, grabbing my arm and yanking me to the other side of the room.

"Phil, I can't do this anymore," Dan shook his head.

"One of them could be my soulmate, Dan!" I argued. "One of them could be your soulmate!"
