Dan was fourteen when it first began. After spending an eventful day with his best friend, Phil, he didn't expect to have his dreams filled of the boy later on. Sure, everyone has dreams with this friends in them. Phil was in his random dreams before where they were flying a plane or some other nonsense, yet this dreamed seemed even more impossible and ludicrous.

Normal people didn't dream of kissing their best friend- especially when both people were straight.

It scared Dan. Not only did it force him to thing about Phil, but also his sexuality. Dan constantly claimed he liked girls- and he did- yet he wouldn't mind kissing Phil. Other guys were quite attractive too.

Dan's idea of being gay were diminished once thinking about his family. They never quite stated that they were homophobic, yet made gay jokes frequently. So, Dan pretended the dreams of kissing Phil's lips were nonexistent and treated Phil as his best friend and nothing more.

It wasn't like Dan didn't think about the dreams though. He just attempted to neglect them and denied them to himself, yet they always came up in the most obvious way possible.

"Do dreams mean anything?" Louise, his friend, questioned while their small group of friends including PJ, Chris, Louise, Cat, Phil, and Dan were sitting outside for lunch.

"Alright, Lou," Cat leaned in towards Louise. "Spill."

"I just had a dream," Louise shrugged, attempting to seem discreet, yet her cheeks that soon became a dark shade of pink showed otherwise.

"And what was this dream about?" Chris inquired, popping a crisp into his mouth.

"I just had a dream that Matt broke up with me," she said quietly, "and y'know how things aren't going so well now." Louise's boyfriend, Matt, and her and had numerous arguments, all of which she had cried afterwards and one of which resulted in Matt hitting Louise harshly.

"Dreams are basically representations of what we desire most times if they happen to be realistic," Phil, who was sitting next to Dan, said. "If you dream of Matt ending your relationship, you want your relationship to be over totally. Therefore, you should end it. On the other hand, if it was a nightmare instead of a dream, you fear the relationship ending, so you should try to reach out to Matt and fix everything."

While Louise said something in response to Phil, Dan pondered. Was it a nightmare or a dream? Did he want Phil? He certainly didn't fear him. Did he crave his affection as he got during his slumber?

"And how exactly do you know this, Phil?" Cat asked.

Phil shrugged. "I dream a lot." Phil's eyes turned off Cat's and then met Dan's.

In that moment, Dan didn't know where his mind was. All he knew that he was throwing himself at Phil and forcing their lips to meet. Phil's lips were warm and unresponsive, causing Dan to find his conscious after several seconds and leave Phil's lips and the rest of their friends to dart away back into the school, searching for some place to escape.

Idiot. Idiot. Idiot.

Why the fuck would you do that, Dan?

Halting from his running that was infrequently done in the middle of the central hallway, he turned around to scan the environment only to see Phil Lester dashing towards him and soon practically pouncing on him and capturing his lips in a kiss. Dan, taking slightly aback, responded shortly later, settling his hands around Phil's neck and deepening this kiss.

Suddenly, the school bell sounded, causing the two to break their kiss, yet not break the position of comfort the two were in as they gazed into each other's eyes in the middle of a hallway that would soon be mobbed.

"I dream about you," Dan said, pausing slightly afterwards, "a lot," he added.

Phil chuckled, before speaking, "I dream about you too much too."

Smiles quickly spread across the boy's faces as students soon filled the once empty hallway.
