Aki's P.O.V

Today will be the seventh day of my experience at ninja academy.

It's also the day the class usually focus on tai jutsu all day.

Crap.

I dragged myself to the school, dread rolling off me in waves.

Not even the flash of orange I caught in the corner of my eye as Naruto planned a sneak attack cheered me up.

I sidestepped with a sigh as Naruto barrelled past, landing in a heap.

"Aha! You dodged my sneak attack,
Aki-chan!
Very well done, believe it!" He cheered, fist-pumping with an endless enthusiasm I suddenly wanted to crush.

He was far too peppy to suit my current mood.

I sweatdropped as I recognised the endearing yet irritating nickname he had fashioned for yours truly.

I didn't particularly approve of the title but after numerous attempts, I gave up trying to convince him to stop.

I almost smiled before remembering my fate, my face dropping into a frown once more.

"What's wrong Aki-chan?" He asked, his face becoming visibly concerned.

I slumped my shoulders.
"Tai-jutsu day..."

Naruto's face looked confused,
"what's wrong with that?!
Tai-jutsu is so much fun!
We could spar together Aki-chan!"
He blurted, waving his arms frantically with excitement during his speech.

I groaned,
"I'm gonna look like a total wimp because I suck at tai-jutsu..."

Naruto gasped,
"really?
Well...
If we have to spar...
I promise I'll go easy on you,
believe it!"

He grinned his huge grin once again and I couldn't help but smile aswell.

"Thanks Naruto-kun."

"Alright class!
Time for sparring practise!" Shouted Iruka-sensei.

There were a few cheers from the class but my heart fell to my feet and my palms grew sweaty.

'Why couldn't it be gen-jutsu day? I bet I could make all these lot scream bloody murder with my illusions...'

"But before we begin, I'd like to test Aki's skills since he's new here," continued sensei.

I choked in surprise.

"Sasuke. Come here please."

'Crap.
Crap.
CRAP.
CRAP!
CRAP!
Why did it have to be Sasuke?!
He's the Friggin' best in class!!'

I resisted the urge to fall to my knees and weep.

'One day Iruka, I'll get you for this!'

Somehow I was already on the mat and Sasuke was approaching fast, his trademark glare-
at nothing in particular-
on his arrogant face.

'Quick, quick, I need a plan.
What can I do...
What can I do?!
Oh Jashin this is gonna be humiliating... '

My eyes frantically scanned my surroundings, my brain racing my to find any advantage, any tactic I could use.

'Wait?!
That's it!
I'll use that trick...' I mentally cackle. 'Be prepared Uchiha...
Granted, it's probably cheating, but they'll never know.
Just a 'trick of the light'. Muahahahahahahha.'

After I finished laughing in my head at my own play on words, my attention snapped back to the cold and serene person before me.
