(The first song on the next books playlist will this song, Into The Void - Nine Inch Nails, just to let you know what kinda person Clarissa will be. Also, I don't know how many of you are losers like I am but I'm obsessed with the Hatsune Miku mix of Unravel. I put it in the video if you wanna hear it :P)

The number rings twice and then they pick up. The card says California so I would think its about 8-9 p.m. there. I hear something that sounds like a man clearing his throat, then there's a rustling in the phone.

"Hello?" A mans voice rings out from the phone after a moment of silence.

"Is this Jonathan Dickson?"

"You can call me Johnny, depending on who's speaking." I hear a slight chuckle.

"I-I'm Clarissa Jackson, you gave me your card in a coff-"

"I know who you are, I remember you quite clearly. So why are you calling? Decided to sign with me?" I could practically hear the plastic smirk in his voice.

"Actually, yes" I could hear a choke of a sound on the other side and I sigh. I hear a distant coughing before he returns to the phone.

"Wait, are you serious?" He sounds almost shocked, as if it were the last thing he could have imagined happening.

"Yeah, but I have no way to actually make it to wherever I need to. I just need to get away as soon as I can."

"You can leave that to me. When's the earliest you can make it to Los Angeles?"

"As soon as possible." He laughs loudly, giving me a mental picture of him with a wide conniving smile.

"And where are you right now?" Where are we again? Oh, right. God, I can barely keep track of the places we're in.

"Chicago" I repeat the exact address of the hotel, a lurching in my stomach as I do. How can I already regret this? I force the feeling away with a sigh, this is the right decision for everyone.

"Then I'll see you in the morning, Darling. Have your things packed by 8 in the morning. Make sure to say your goodbyes while you can, I'm not sure when you'll get back to see them." And with that the phone clicks off. I sit in the silence, a few stray tears falling down my face.

I've done it. I've sold my soul to a demon. And there is no turning back now.  I won't give him a chance to convince me that it was a mistake and that he's sorry. I will not be lied to any longer. Who knows if this has been a constant thing?

I stuff all of my things into my bag  except a change of clothes. After laying that out, I lay on the bed, not sleeping but thinking. Who was she? Was she better than me? Did she make him happier than I ever could?

And somehow, I turned the blame upon me once again.

It had to have been me. I was the one that wouldn't put out. I was the one who was too afraid of even having sex with someone who had been so kind to me. Only a girl like me could make someone do this.

Omen?

Yes.

I'm the curse.

That's it. My brother died because I cursed him with my love, and I turn a good person like Gerard into an addict cheater.

Gerard.

I can't let him see me before I leave. I'll post a note to the bus, so they won't think I got kidnapped or something. But it won't be anything meaningful. Just a statement more or less.
