My name is William Hatchett. The world that I come from is widely inhabited by creatures with incredible powers that we call Pokémon. In this world, I am known as part of an ever-growing legend that dates back to when Arceus first helped make the desolate land viable again. This legend involves a Pokémon Trainer with the power to summon legendary Pokémon with just a symbol drawn. Now, don't think that I knew this my whole life. I actually didn't learn half of this until I was ten years old and received my trainer card. But, I'm getting ahead of myself. The story I want to tell you goes back to when I was around two or three years old.

My mom was attending to her garden with the help of Mr. Mime. I was playing in the grass as I watched some of the older kids playing with their Pokémon. The next thing my mom knew, I was on the back of one of the Legendary Birds of the Kanto region. My mom freaked out and called Professor Oak, who was the region's Pokémon Professor and a close family friend. When the Professor came over, he noticed that, right bellow the legendary Zapdos, was a symbol drawn into the ground. Zapdos set me down and I drew another symbol in the dirt. This time, Lugia appeared and explained to my mom and Professor Oak what was going on by telling them that I was the next in the line of Legendary Trainers.

I found out about this story as I grew up because everyone in Pallet Town saw the whole thing after my mom screamed. I spent the next seven to eight years doing tests in Professor Oak's lab so that Professor Oak could better try to understand the extent of my powers. When I wasn't doing tests, I would hang out with all of the Pokémon that other trainers had sent Professor Oak along their journey. Much to Professor Oak's amazement, I could actually speak to, and hear the Pokémon just like they were ordinary people. I didn't think this was anything special because it was something I was used to. When I had questions about my powers, I would ask the Legendary Birds for guidance. But, they all said that Lugia was the one who knew the most about my powers and why they work how they do.

I would call Lugia whenever I needed someone to talk to after being annoyed by the tests so much about my powers and what all I could do. "You have the power to call upon ALL of the Legendary Pokémon with the symbols that you draw. Every legendary knows who you are and will listen to you no matter what. Another perk that comes with your powers is that you can speak to any Pokémon just like you do with normal people." Lugia told me. "Lugia, I don't know why I was chosen to become this Legendary Trainer. I just want to enjoy my life like everyone else." I said, feeling down about how I'm inside doing tests on my powers while everyone else gets to play outside. Lugia explained to me that the Legendary Trainer isn't chosen, but the powers go to a person who would become pure of heart and help to save the world from on coming danger.

As time went on, I performed the tests as Professor Oak asked, but I came up with something that seemed foolproof. "Professor, when I turn ten years old, will I be able to go on a journey like other ten year olds in Kanto?" I asked, hoping that he would say yes. "Yes William, you will be able to go on a journey. I already have a surprise or two in store for that day." Professor Oak said to me. I was so ecstatic since it was only a few more months until my tenth birthday.
