The next morning, Leaf and I went to take on Cerulean Gym. Ellie was cheering us on. My Gym Leader sent out a Starmie, which looked really powerful. I sent out Ivysaur to use Leech Seed on it before switching into Pikachu to use Thunderbolt. I used that tactic for all three of her Pokémon. Leaf wasn't having as much luck. Because the Leader sent out Horsea, Goldeen, and Seaking, it was harder for Venusaur to land Leech Seed, Poisonpowder, or even Vine Whip. Unfortunately, Leaf didn't have any Electric type Pokémon to electrify the water to win. I asked the referee if I could allow Leaf to use one of my Pokémon since I was finished and Leaf still had the option of two other Pokémon to battle with. The referee said that it wasn't specifically stated in the rulebook, so he allowed it.

"Pikachu, you need to listen to Leaf until the battle is over." I said through the Poke ball using my powers before I gave the Poke ball to Leaf. She ended up winning with Pikachu. We went outside to find an angered dog like Pokémon waiting for us. I saw another symbol and recognized the Pokémon as the Legendary Dog of Lightning, Raikou. I told the girls to run, but Raikou wouldn't let them escape. I put on my armor and started to use the calming power to focus it on me. I brought it down to the ground and drew the symbol to finish the procedure. It lifted its head and Entei had gotten out of the Poke ball to speak with its sibling. "Where am I?" Raikou asked. Raikou had a deep voice, but not as deep as Entei's. Like Entei, Raikou had no idea how it was brought to Kanto until later on. I asked Raikou if it wanted to travel with us until we found Suicune. It agreed and was captured in a Poke ball. I thought about the conversation Leaf and I had with Clefairy last night.

"Ellie, can you carry Raikou in the Poke ball until we find Suicune?" I asked, hoping this would help her to build some confidence. "You really want me to carry it?" She asked in disbelief. "Of course. You've been a great companion to travel with and I trust you." I said as I powered down the armor. She took the Poke ball and Clefairy & Leaf gave me a look of approval for how I took care of it. We found police officers chasing after a Team Rocket grunt. I went after him and recovered the ™ that he stole. After we started to make our way to Vermillion City, Team Rocket surrounded us. Ellie grabbed Raikou's Poke ball and I stopped her and signaled no.

"What do you goons want?" I asked. Familiar voices rung out like an alarm. "Prepare for trouble," Jessie said. "Or make it double." James said. "To protect the world from devastation," Jessie continued. "To unite all peoples within our nation." "To denounce the evils of truth and love," "To extend our reach to the stars above." "Jessie!" "James!" "Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light," "Surrender now or prepare to fight!" "Meowth, that's right." Meowth added in. "You buffoons again?" I asked annoyed. All of the Team Rocket members attacked.

"Leaf, we need Venusaur. Ellie, Clefairy needs to help out. Charmeleon, Wartortle, Ivysaur, Pidgeotto, Pikachu, let's take them down." I said. I used my telepathy to command all five of my Pokémon. We defeated them all, and Ellie was able to knock out quite a few of them on her own. I collapsed on the ground soon after the battle was over. Ellie activated my stylus and called on Lugia to pick us up and take us to Professor Oak. I woke up connected to multiple machines with Pidgeotto at the foot of my bed watching me. "You really need to stay in bed." Mr. Mime said as he came in to check on me. "Why are we in Pallet Town?" I asked in pain as I started to sit up.

"Leaf and Ellie brought you here because Professor Oak is the only one who knows about your powers that could actually speak to them. Lugia says that you are pushing yourself too hard." Pidgeotto explained. "How am I pushing myself too hard?" I asked. Lugia was outside the window. I couldn't believe I didn't sense its presence. "You're using your telepathy as often as Pidgeotto takes a bath." Lugia said. "Hey! When did this become insult the guardian time?" Pidgeotto asked offended. "Chill out, Pidgeotto. How else am I supposed to command five Pokémon when I'm surrounded by fifteen to twenty Team Rocket members or calm down an enraged Legendary Pokémon from another region that hasn't ever met me before." I asked Lugia. My voice started rising in volume, as I got more annoyed. "You're right. The circumstances required you to push yourself that much. But, this just means that you need to be more careful on how you use it." Lugia said.

Pidgeotto looked at me and said "Which means, you need to stop using it in Gym Battles. The stress of the battle, plus you wearing yourself out with the use of that power isn't helping anything." "Wouldn't this mean that I need to work on how much of my power I can use in a day before being drained?" I asked. "Yes. Because you will become involved in a large confrontation in your future that you'll need to use your powers left and right. So, you need to practice." Lugia said. I put the stylus on and registered Raikou's symbol since I hadn't done that yet. Mom came in and saw me at the window and put me straight back in the bed. "Pidgeotto, promise me that you will not be as forceful as she is when I do something like this." I said using telepathy. "I'll get her to do that." Pidgeotto said while laughing. I threw my pillow at it and knocked it off of the bed.

After I finished recovering, Leaf decided to start training me to use my power more often. Ellie would have Clefairy use Heal Bell on me when I got tired. This combination worked for about two hours before I passed out from exhaustion. When I woke up, Professor Oak was sitting at the foot of the bed and Pidgeotto wasn't anywhere in sight, nor could I sense it nearby. "Where's Pidgeotto?" I asked. "He's with Ellie and Leaf in Viridian. I asked them to get you some medicine and Pidgeotto wouldn't rest until they took him with them. I really envy your ability to understand them." Professor Oak said. "That little one is turning into one heck of a guardian." I said. "Is that what he is? I guess that would explain the night he was talking with Zapdos." Professor Oak said light heartedly.

"William, you need to take it easy with the training that Leaf is doing. It's not healthy for you." Professor Oak said. He knew that I couldn't take that much strain of using my powers repeatedly. "Professor, I can't just stop. I need to build up my usage of my powers before I encounter a situation where I'd need to use my powers more than I have ever used them." I said. "He's not wrong, Professor." Lugia said outside the window. "I really hate how you tend to appear out of no where." Professor Oak said to Lugia. Lugia was using its psychic powers to talk to Professor Oak. "The energy that William uses in his powers is naturally produced in him, but he does run through it pretty quickly when he uses his powers in abundance. Maybe we are tackling the wrong issue in the training that William is doing." Lugia said.

"Are you saying we try to increase the amount of energy that William produces so that he has more of it when he uses his powers?" Professor Oak asked. "Not we, William can do it if he did some meditation and focused on his powers for an hour before he starts his day." Lugia explained. We kept talking and came to the conclusion of me waking up an hour earlier to meditate and focus on my powers. The girls came back with Pidgeotto and the medicine. I didn't tell the girls about the meditation, but I told them that we wouldn't need to do the training anymore like we have been. We agreed that, when I was fully recovered, we would head back towards Vermillion City.

"By the way, Ellie, how's Raikoudoing?" I asked. "He's doing really well. He seems to like me a lot. He alwayswants to take me for rides on his back." Ellie said. Clefairy came andexplained that she asked Raikou to help Ellie feel happy. I was glad that Elliewas feeling good about herself and that she enjoyed holding on to Raikou forme. I felt bad that I knew that my dream would come true one day. While I waspassed out, I dreamt that I was leaving them behind to face off one final timeagainst Giovanni. I know that this dream is just insight into future events, but I couldn't tell, by the dream, when it would happen. I just knew that Iwould have to leave them behind to keep them safe.
