Chapter 13: A Mystery Encounter

The next morning, Ghastly stayed with us as we began to challenge the gym. The girls were still not thrilled about the events of the previous night. We entered the gym and I quickly defeated the Gym Leader. We started making our way to the next city, when I felt the same psychic signal actually call out to me. The girls said I passed out after we got through the doors of the gym. That's when I felt the signal. What ever was sending the signal; it was strong enough to shut me down for a little while. I had Mew check me over to make sure nothing foul in origin was imbedded in my mind. Mew said I was all clear. I used my telepathy to make it clear to whoever could hear it that I wouldn't let anyone take me down so easily and for the person who was signaling me so severally, to just speak when they signal so that I could figure out what was going on.

We realized that we actually went out of order when it came to taking on the gyms when Sabrina said that the Celadon City and Fuchsia City gyms were in for a shock when we backtrack our way. We headed to Celadon City since it was the closest and Leaf wasn't too thrilled about letting Venusaur be at a disadvantage again after Sabrina knocked it out in one hit. Celadon would be extremely easy for me with Charmeleon, Pidgeotto, Growlithe, and Arbok. Halfway to Celadon City, I heard a voice responding to my previous message. "You seem to be the only human that I can trust, but I don't know why." A deep, threatening voice spoke to me telepathically. "Who are you?" I asked. I didn't realize that I was responding out loud while also using my telepathy until Leaf and Ellie started staring at me.

"You will find out who I am soonenough if you continue with the two challenges that you have started." Thevoice said. I didn't know what it meant. "What challenge have I taken otherthan the Gym Challenge?" I asked. I knew the voice was referring to the GymChallenge, but I was confused about the second one. "Beware the Ultimate RocketWeapon." The voice said. It stopped responding and I couldn't sense it, norcould I sense where it's signal came from. "What was that about?" Leaf asked."The being that was causing me to fall over finally spoke to me. I didn'trealize that I was speaking aloud. Do I do that often?" I asked. They bothshook their heads no. The words of the being still troubled me. They constantlyran around in my head no matter what was going on.
