As the party went on, I started to notice that Ellie wasn't as excited as everyone else was. I walk over to her. "What's wrong?" I asked. "What do we do now? What after the Indigo League? What happens to us?" Ellie asked with tears forming in her eyes. I lead her into the house and kiss her. "After the Indigo League, there's an entirely new region for us to travel through in Johto. As for what happens with us, we stay together and see what happens with how we feel for each other." I say. Ellie kisses me passionately. "I love you with all my heart, Legendary Trainer!" Ellie says while looking deeply into my eyes. "I love you, Ellie. I can't see myself being with anyone else." I say. I hear a noise outside the window like someone just ran away from it. I sense through the ground who was running. "Crap. Not this again." I say before leaving.

I start running after Leaf. I manage to catch up to her and pin her down. "Why is it I'm always having to chase you and why were you eaves dropping in the first place?" I ask, not noticing that Leaf was crying. "What do you care? Just go on to Johto and get married to Ellie already. You obviously don't feel anything for me." Leaf says muffled through her crying. "You're right. Romantically, I don't feel anything for you. But, you are still one of my oldest and closest friends and I really look to you for support in situations that I know I can't handle by myself. If you hadn't been there with me, I would've never beaten Team Rocket at Sylph Co. I need you to help me by being my friend." I say. Leaf starts crying even more. When she finally calms down, she says, "I'll support you and try to get over my feelings for you, but you have to be patient with me about it." "As long as you talk with me about it instead of run away and force me to come after you. I'm not in good enough shape to run after you this much." I say. Leaf laughs at that and says, "I guess that's going to be the next training exercise." "Glad to see you're feeling well enough to make jokes." I say before helping Leaf up. We hug it out since we've come to an understanding. Leaf punches me as the hug ends. "What was that for?" I asked angrily. "I can't get my eighth Gym Badge cause of you now." Leaf says. I start running before she tries to do anything else to me.

We get back to Pallet Town and rejoin the party. I find Ellie waiting for me. "Hey William, did you realize what time of year it is?" Ellie asked me. I think about it and can't figure it out. "No. What time of year is it?" I ask. She points to the mistletoe that is over her head in the picnic shelter. I notice and kiss her. Everyone notices what we're doing. There are oohs and awes from everyone. One of my old friends from home, who still can't go on a journey yet, came up and asked me, "So, when's the wedding?" Ellie blushed. I pushed the guy into the Tauros fields just as the Tauros were stampeding again. Luckily, he was carried away and not trampled. Everyone laughed at this. A few days later, Mom starts working on all of the minor things for the Christmas party she always has for everyone in Pallet Town. Ellie and I spend some quality time on the hillside behind Prof. Oak's lab. Ellie lies against me as I sit up. "This is nice. I'm glad that we can do this." Ellie says with a cute tone in her voice. I hug her tight as she lies closer to me. She closes her eyes in pleasure of that action. I think about everything we've been through together and realize how she has grown stronger than the timid little girl that I met in Pewter City. I kiss her forehead and she just purrs like a Meowth.

A week after the party, Leaf goes to Viridian City because she heard that there was a new Gym Leader, but has Ellie and I stay in Pallet Town. "This shouldn't take too long. I'll be back in less than a day." Leaf says confidently. "Are you sure you don't want us to come along? What if something happens and you need us?" I ask. "I'll be fine, William. We defeated Team Rocket. There's no one that will cause me harm." Leaf tries to settle my nerves. "Well, at least take Gengar with you so that he can contact me if something does happen." I say taking Gengar out of his poke ball. "Fine since I know it's the only way you'll let me out of this conversation." Leaf agrees. She leaves and Ellie looks up at me. "What?" I ask. She looks almost hurt. "Why did you act so worried about her? She's a strong trainer and can handle herself." Ellie says. "Don't tell me you're jealous. I know Leaf is strong, but just like I would be if you left for somewhere without me, I'm concerned that someone might ambush her to try to get to me." I explain my reasoning to her. Ellie is a little embarrassed that she was so jealous.

A few days pass and there is no word from Leaf or Gengar. Ellie comes to me while I'm doing my morning meditation. "I'm worried about Leaf. She should've been back by now." "I know. I've been trying to reach Gengar through telepathy, but can't get in contact with him." I say frustrated. I punch the ground. A Pokémon comes and delivers a piece of technology. I pick it up and activate it. "Hello William, I am the boss of Team Flare. As you may have guessed, I have captured your friend Leaf. If you want her back, submit all the data you posses on the Legendary Trainer's powers. I'll meet you in front of the Indigo Plateau to make the exchange." The transmission ends. I crush the Holocaster with my bare hand. "William, what are you going to do?" Ellie asks scared. "He wants to know the Legendary Trainer's power? He'll experience it first hand!" I say angrily. Ellie clenches her fist. "Then lets go!" "No way. I'm not risking you getting hurt while I do this. You're staying here and that's final!" I say in a fit of rage. She cowers and doesn't argue. I realize that she's terrified of me. "I'm sorry Ellie. I just got carried away." I try to comfort her. The next thing I know, Ellie has slapped me. "Don't apologize. Use that to scare the pants off of those guys and bring Leaf back. I'll be right here waiting for both of you." She says as she kisses my cheek.

"It's morphin time! Lugia armor!" I say preparing to fly off. I head toward the Indigo Plateau and notice all of the Team Flare members. I get to the peak and see the man from the transmission. I land by punching the ground in front of him. "Let her go now, Lysandre." I say furiously. He looks at me intrigued. "I never would've thought my message would've been sent to the Legendary Trainer himself. Its an honor to meet you." He says as he bows in front of me. His voice is deep and authoritative. "Cut the act and hand her over before I pummel you into the ground." I say. Leaf looks absolutely terrified at how I'm acting. "Unfortunately, the deal has not been met so I cannot do that." Lysandre says. "Than you leave me no choice. Aeroblast!" I say as I start flapping my wings. A powerful windstorm starts lifting everyone who isn't holding on to something off the ground. Leaf gets sent up into the air while her arms are tied behind her back. I catch her and fly away while Team Flare can't see what is going on. "This is not the end, Legendary Trainer. I will understand your powers and use them to create a beautiful world." Lysandre screams.
