Chapter 21: Reunions and New Gear

                 

I fly back to Pallet with Leaf holding on to me tightly. I don't make a sound and Leaf looks a little scared about what happened. When we get to Pallet, Ellie hugs us both and I just go to the field behind her and take off the armor after using the symbol to summon Lugia. "Lugia, I want the symbols for the Legendaries in Kalos unlocked now!" I demand. "William, you know I can't do that. You're supposed to come into contact with them to unlock the symbols." Lugia said. I get angry and start kicking up dirt. "That's not what happened when I got your symbol. You can unlock those symbols." I say frustrated. "You're right. Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno gave you my symbol so that I could instruct you on your powers and be a guide for Prof. Oak and your mother. But, I cannot unlock the symbols for you because I cannot influence you by giving you access to knowledge from your past lives." Lugia explained. I only get angrier and the girls hug me tight to keep me from doing anything.

            "William, please calm down. You're scaring me." Ellie says with tears in her eyes and some rolling down her cheek. Leaf kisses me to pull me back to reality from my angered state. "William, I want to make those guys pay too, but not like this. You need to show them that you're better than they are by taking the high road. You've always been one to inspire people and this way of thinking only makes people believe that you can be just like the evil you face." Leaf says shakily. Tears roll down both of their faces as I realize what I've been acting like and how I have seriously hurt my friends by losing control like that. Tears start to form around my eyes from realizing how these two girls have helped make me stronger when I'm not fighting. I break down and cry with them as we all fall on to the hill while holding each other.

After I let out my cry and start coming back, I look at both of them. "I'm sorry you guys. I can't believe I lost it like that." I say laughing to stop myself from crying. Prof. Oak comes and brings us to the lab. "I have something to help you all avoid a situation like this in the future. I realize that Team Rocket wasn't the only threat that you all would be facing in your journey, so my team and I have been working on these." He shows us two sets of armor similar to mine and a new stylus that is separate from the two armor sets. "These are the newest models of William's armor. They will allow you girls to use William's ability to mimic the Pokémon you capture while the armor is activated so you can defend yourselves. The gauntlets even have a keystone hole for Mega Evolution. And William, this new stylus will help you track their armor at all times." We stand in awe of these gifts. "Professor, how long have you been working on these?" I ask. "Since the first time the girls brought you back after over exerting yourself." Prof. Oak replies. We all take our gifts and I teach the girls how to use all of the features of their armor.

"I was originally thinking we would go to Johto after the Indigo League, but what do you girls think about heading straight to Kalos instead?" I ask. "We need to get stronger before taking on Team Flare again. They are different than Team Rocket since they aren't just fighting for the purpose of stealing Pokémon." Leaf says. "Let's just head to Johto and we can talk about this again when we finish there. I'd like to see Suicune and Raikou again." Ellie says with a big smile. I think back to the shock I felt when I had heard that Ellie was the one who caught Suicune after I had passed out. "Then it's decided. You going to be mad when I take the title of Champion from you?" I ask Leaf. "You aren't taking the title from me. I'm taking it from you!" Leaf yells angrily. I see the fire return to Leaf's eyes. "Glad to see you two finally back to normal." Ellie says giggling.

The next day, we started heading to the Indigo Plateau. When we reached the front gate, there was a familiar figure standing there. I heard a familiar voice call from a poke ball on his side. "Brock?" I asked as we approached. "Hey there. I see you've come a long way in the past few months." Brock said. "Yeah. Oh, I need to introduce you. This is Leaf and Ellie. They've been traveling with me since you helped me with Team Rocket." I explain while introducing them. "It's nice to meet you two. So, I've been hearing more rumors about you through the trainers that challenge me. You still inspire them to reach higher." Brock says. "I haven't really interacted with any trainers in some time as my other half." I say while rubbing the back of my neck. "You're still keeping your identity a secret?" Brock asks curiously. "Kind of have to after what happened yesterday. I'm being targeted for my abilities and anyone close to me is a tool to be used against me." I say nervously.

"That was then, now we can protect ourselves so you don't have to worry as much." Leaf says holding the mechanized bracelet in my face. Ellie kisses me while blushing a little. "I still need your protection." Ellie says trying to make me feel better. All of a sudden, we hear some familiar voices echo through the mountain. "Prepare for trouble," Jessie said. "Or make it double." James said. "To protect the world from devastation," Jessie continued. "To unite all peoples within our nation." "To denounce the evils of truth and love," "To extend our reach to the stars above." "Jessie!" "James!" "Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light," "Surrender now or prepare to fight!" "Meowth, that's right." Meowth added in. "These guys again?" Brock asks. "Will you three ever learn?" I ask.
