As we go off the stage, the adrenaline immediately fades away. At least it feels like it. Like, it has been replaced by awkwardness and regret.
Dan just avoids us. He mutters a few cold words every now and then. They're mostly like, that was it, can you pass me the towel or where's my phone. There's no warmth, no ten plus seconds of glances nor any touching.
I gaze at Wayne, he expresses worry and most definitely regret. Daniel just seem to be really anxious. It's almost like he's ready to throw a three hour long apology at anytime. He's cracking his knuckles, sucking in his lips and sighing deeply.
Meanwhile I'm just quietly observing everything. Honestly, I've never been good with these things. I just don't know what to say!
Oh, Dan, I'm sorry! I'm sorry for reading your journals these past years. I'm sorry for knowing your every secret, your every thought and your every insecurity that was written down. We did try to protect you, kind of. I must admit that it was fun reading it. Meaning, I know so much about you. Sorry that our whole relation is based on secrets and false trust! We really did kind of almost try not to read. But sometimes you made us really worried. Like, so worried we had to invade your privacy. Woops, I guess. I'm sorry!
With a smile, I shake my head. This whole situation is just so messed up. I just freaking wish I kept my mouth shut. Ugh, why didn't I?
"Let's head back to the bus..." Wayne suggests.
Eased, we all just nod and hurry for the door. Thankfully we don't have a meet and greet here...
Dan is the first one to get in. He walks with a fast pace and then almost throws himself into his bunker.
Lexi stands by the kitchen table, confusion in her eyes. She fixes her grasp around River before beaming. After stroking her hair from her face, she takes a few steps to us. We're up now.
Where's Kylie?
"Hey, guys. How was the concert, and what's going on?" she wonders as Wayne kisses her cheek.
"Just a small argument." he insists.
"Clearly," she mumbles as she hands him River, "He just rushed in..."
"We noticed." Daniel sighs.
"Definitely." Wayne fills in.Lexi raises her eyebrow at us.
Just a small argument. Just us invading his privacy for years. Just us tearing apart the trust we shared. Just a small argument.
"Ehm, where's Kylie?" I ask, wandering to the kitchen for an apple.
"She's out."
"Why?"
"Groceries, we're lacking."
"Ok."Everything just continues with unspoken words and silent anger, regret and sadness.
I hate myself for this.
Play casual, this isn't anything, just a small argument, you'll solve it
"You're acting weird, but whatever." Lexi sighs, "I'm going to my bunker, if anyone looks for me."
"Why?" Wayne wonders.
"Reading."
"Ok then."Lexi paces away, but mumbles something like "creep" and giggles.
Daniel sighs tiredly. Wayne has his gaze down. Both are noticeably feeling guilty. I feel guilty as well, but, I dunno...
"I feel bad." Wayne mumbles.
We nod, agreeing.
"I should probably start doing the dinner." I mutter and get up with an half-eaten apple in my hand.
