Chapter 22

They flame into the penthouse together holding each other's hands. Colette walks over to the bifold doors and stares at the view whilst Cole heads into the kitchen to get a bottle of wine.

Cole empties his throat "So..Colette how have you been?."

Colette turns around to face him with a sigh. "If you don't mind.. Can we skip the small talk.. That's not why I'm here."

Cole walks over to her and leans against the table folding his arms. "And..why are you here?."

Colette turns around facing him and sighs "The reason I'm here is because of Poseidon so you can thank him for that".

Cole scoffs "And.. I'm supposed to be grateful?.. You've been changing your mind every 5 minutes since you got here."

Colette smirks "Didn't you know its a woman's prerogative to change her mind?.."

Cole rolls his eyes at her "Your point being?..."

She smiles "My point.. I've made my decision."

Cole stands up clearly Interested. "About us?."

Colette nodded "I've got your attention now have I?.

Cole nodded. "Go on.." He waves at her to continue.

Colette bites her lip "Before I tell you though.. I think you need to read this." She waves her hand and magically her Diary appears and she hands it over.

Cole frowns "What happened to not wanting to change the future?."

Colette shrugs "It's come to my attention maybe the future needs to change and I have a feeling that Poseidon feels the same."

Cole looks concerned by this. "Are you sure?.. How do you know I'm not going to use it to my advantage."

Colette shrugs "I don't but I'm actually trusting you for once.. or is that a mistake?."

Cole weighs the possibilities in his head, He wants to help her but at the same time his demonic side makes him feel slightly conflicted. 

He sighs thinking to himself This is what demons do and if I want her to be my queen then what other option do I have, then again I can be nice to her and do it in a more nicer way.. I must be kidding myself right now. Cole smiles to himself.

Colette frowns "You smiling actually makes me feel concerned maybe I should take that Diary back." She steps forward in attempt to snatch the diary back but instead Cole's actions were quicker and he holds it just out of her reach.

Colette frowns and stamps her feet angrily as if she is having a toddler's tantrum. "So not fair using my height against me."

Cole chuckles "It's better than me using my powers against you.

At Cole's words She suddenly has a flashback.

Flashback in the future but in her past

Cole and Colette standing opposite each other like two wolves ready to kill each other in a bigger fancy penthouse which was their living room and above the staircase were three bedrooms.

 Two of the bedrooms were where Cole's future heirs slept soundly in their beds. They had Twins named Isaac and Isobel and also a young Daughter called Caitlyn and the Eldest son was called Lucas.

Colette and Cole were still standing standoffish both arguing about something. Suddenly Cole summons a Fireball and throws it at Colette but she ducks and the Fireball misses her. In retaliation Colette throws her arm toward him and Cole was thrown off his feet by an invisible force.

Cole gets up and dust's himself off and he attempts again by summoning a fireball and was just about to throw it when the kids lean over the banister. All the Commotion had woken the kids up. Lucas Looks at his Parent's wide eyed "Mum, Dad What are you doing?.. Stop it!"

Cole ignores his son's request and throws a fireball back at Colette which again misses her because she ducked and rolled. Instead this time the fireball landed on an empty plug socket and Instantly sparks from the socket begins to fly and rather rapidly changes into fire.

Cole looks at his children and then looks back at Colette. In his head he thinks to himself "If I had the choice I'd save my kids but I'm still mad with Colette. Either way whatever I do I'd never forgive myself if Colette died...I suppose I'll have to take the consequences if the underworld end up angry at me for letting the kids die."

In a split second he made a decision and he grabbed Colette off the stairs whilst she was in the middle of her attempt to save the children.

Outside the building with Cole She hits him repeatedly "I'll never forgive you ever!.. We could've saved them. Fire doesn't harm us remember?.."

She continues yelling at him "They were just innocent little children who hadn't come into their powers yet."

Cole sighed "And they were the reason why we was arguing in the first place remember?."

Colette ignores him and turns toward the building and notice's her children yelling at her out the window. The Eldest Lucas pushes his siblings aside to get to the front of the group and yells at his mum "Don't worry mum I'll look after them."

He added with sentiment "I love you."

Colette froze at his words and starts staring into space hearing them scream with agony but at the same time Lucas's last words replay round and round in her head.

She continues to hear his voice and last words as she suddenly blinks and comes back around into present day.

Colette shakes her head she looks around disoriented and startled for a moment but then she remembered where she was. 

She was in the past with Cole hoping to rectify anything that did happen in the future but at the same time she doesn't want to change things because in her mind there were things she wanted to remember so that she knew what Cole was like. 

At the same time though she wishes she could change everything so that maybe could change him but she knew you can't change a person If they are set in their ways.

Cole shakes Colette "Colette are you okay?."

Colette nodded "I..I'm fine.. I'd better go.. Call me when you've read that ok?."

Cole nodded back at her "You sure your okay?."

She smiles at him "I'm sure." As she stepped into the lift and the lift doors closed behind her she wonders if she made the right decision in giving the diary or her decision in general for coming back to the past in the first place but then she realised in essence she is still grieving for the children she lost.

She yells for Leo and he arrives in swirling blue orbs."

"You okay Colette? "

Colette nodded "I don't want to talk about it okay?.. Will you take me back to the manor?"

Leo nodded "Of course.. you only had to ask." He held her hand and squeezed them tight partly in reassurance but partly so that he doesn't let go when they are orbing.

They leave together in a swirl of bright blue light.
