You looked up at Pete as he stroked your hair.
"Don't be so worried about me. I'll be fine." You sighed, reaching up to touch his cheek.
"You stopped breathing today (Y/N). I can't let that happen again." Pete replied. You smiled softly and brought his forehead to yours.
"I'll be fine." You repeated. You were interrupted by the door sliding open. Pete moved away from you as a female doctor walked over.
"Hello there Mrs. Wentz. How are you feeling now?" She asked.
"Honestly, I feel pretty good. I'm having a hard time taking in some breaths, but other than that, I'm great." You answered honestly.
"Well, we think that what happened to you was just a reaction to all your other symptoms of sickness. You had a cough?"
"Yeah actually. Pete, did you tell them that?" You looked over at Pete who had his arms crossed defensively.
"No, I didn't." He answered.
"Symptoms fit. Just take some cough medicine and it should clear everything up." The woman said.
"Thank you Dr..."
"Cameron."
"What about Dr. House? He didn't even see her." Pete asked.
"Dr. House isn't really a...people person." Cameron apologized.
"That's alright. The fast I get home to Bronx and Saint, the happier I'll be." You confessed. You sat up and felt a pain in your stomach. You flinched noticeably.
"Baby, you okay?" Pete asked placing a hand on your back. Dr. Cameron looked over at you.
"Yeah, I just feel nauseous." You mumbled. You turned your head and threw up on your hospital bed. The vomit was a bloody color.
"Was this caused by the cough?" Pete asked worriedly.
"No, it wasn't." Cameron said, watching as you fell back on the bed. Your heart monitor flatlined.
"I need a crash cart in here!" Cameron called to the nurses outside.
"Oh my gosh, is she gonna be okay?" Pete panicked.
"You need to leave!" A nurse said, pulling Pete outside. He watched from outside as the charged the paddles and shocked you barely back to life. This was so serious now.
To be continued...
