--Courtney's P.O,V--
"So is tour like everything you wanted it to be?" Tanner asked as we finally arrived at the deserted field that I was going to try to drive in. "Is it exciting or drama-filled? I need details."
I laughed at Tanner's questions as he stopped the car. He climbed out of the driver's seat, coming over to open my passenger's side door. "Time for you to get in the driver's seat."
I climbed out, quickly making my way to the other side of the car before lowering myself down into the driver's seat and closing the door.
"I know you are nervous, so before we start to drive, let's talk about the tour," Tanner commented. "How's it going?"
"It's alright," I responded. "It's actually better than I expected. Performing in front of an audience was terrifying at first, but it's getting better and better every day. However, I am scared for tonight's performance because everybody I care about will be there, including a bunch of bands that are extremely talented. They have far more experience than I do."
Tanner shook his head at me. "Courtney, of course all those other bands have more experience than you. You are just starting out as your own artist. The rest of these bands have been in the business for years. Who are they anyway? Anybody I know?"
My feet shuffled uncomfortably as I moved the wheel down into my lap where I could actually see the road. Tanner's tallness was so unfair sometimes.
"We are performing with PVRIS, Walk the Moon, Paramore, and Simple Plan. Paramore and Simple Plan have been my favorite bands for awhile, but I've only heard one song by Walk the Moon. I think it's called Shut Up and Dance."
"I haven't really heard any songs by PVRIS. All I know is that the lead singer is gay because that was the first thing she said to me when she introduced herself."
Tanner stared at me in awe. "I can't believe you get to talk too such amazing bands. Walk the Moon is actually very good, but Shut Up and Dance is too overplayed. I've heard of PVRIS, but I really don't know anything about them. Paramore is a good band, but their current style now isn't really something I'm into, but Simple Plan is utter genius."
I was praying that the subject stayed on the tour or the music we both liked. I already knew that Tanner wanted answers, I just technically didn't have them yet. Of course, when I was younger I would have automatically said yes to him, but now, everything was different. My feelings wouldn't give my brain a straight answer and it was killing me.
Tyler was still always in the back of my mind. It didn't matter if he was engaged to Jenna or not. I felt deep in my heart that there might still be hope for us and I probably was just being melodramatic, but I didn't want to be in a relationship right now and quite possibly totally ruin Tyler and I's whole relationship.
"Okay," I said, smiling, "are you going to teach me to drive or not?"
Tanner chuckled. "You won't know how to drive after this one lesson. Besides, this one lesson just involves the basics because that's all you have time for before you have to be back at the fairgrounds."
Disappointment washed over me. I was actually quite excited to learn. Driving was a right of passage that every teenager went though when they were sixteen aside from some special cases, which included me. There wasn't many eighteen girls that didn't know how to drive and I didn't want to stay one of those girls. Asking whoever was available for a ride was utterly mortifying.
"First things first, do you know how to start the car?" The boy next to me asked.
I nodded. "You turn the key in the ignition."
