Denver's POV

Idiots.

And all three of them! I run after them as I try to come up with a good excuse when Dad or someone  catches us. We only wanted a laugh. Just out for a walk, stretching our legs.

Even Kal gave in. He's supposed to be the older sensible one, not the one who gives into Dick and Wally's peer pressure.

I follow Dick out the back door where the other guys are standing. "How are we going to get to Cadmus?" Wally asks as he scratches the top of his bright yellow hood. "I'm not walking."

Dick snaps his gloves fingers together, "Batman left the Bat-mobile here, and I know how to drive it!"

"Absolutely not," I deadpan and Dick and I start to stare each other down. "This isn't a good idea."

Dick walks up and claps me on the shoulder. "Batgirl. Darling," he says in a fake posh voice, "This is the chance to prove yourself to Batman! Don't you want to show him that you're not the little sidekick he thinks you are?"

I don't give in, "I'm perfectly fine with taking the long way to becoming part of the League."

My brother shrugs and winks at me through his mask. "Suit yourself. Come on boys, poetic justice awaits us!" I watch as they all run off. I attempt to turn around and walk back the the Hall, but something in the back of my mind causes me to run off to where my friends had gone, and I hop into the Bat-mobile.

I can see the smirk painted on Dick's  face as he starts the engine. He doesn't say anything though, but Wally sure does.

"Nice of you to join us gorgeous," he laughs, "good to know that one of us can charm a security guard of needed."

Dick peeks at the rear view mirror, "that's my sister you're talking too."

~~~~~~~~~~~~
We park about a quarter mile from the actual Cadmus building. After Dick/Robin hops out and we all start running, I decide to pipe up. "So what's the plan?"
Robin ignores me, but Wally scoffs, "to put out the fire obviously. What else would we do?"
"She was just asking a question," Aqualad says in his monotone voice. "And it was a good question. We need to figure out a plan."
Soon the building is in sight and the smoke smell fills my nose. Wally runs ahead as usual, and Kal repeats his question. "What's the plan? Robin?"
I notice that the short stack is nowhere in sight and I shrug. "I guess we're just going with it," I say and run off. Soon I'm at the top, where Robin and Kid Flash are looking at a computer of a sort.
"Nice of you to show up," Robin smirks, and continues to type away at something.
"What are you doing?"
He shrugs and says, "knocking out security," like its the most normal thing for a teenager to do.
Aqualad hops in through the window, "thanks for the help guys."
I watch as little red frowny faces become green smiley faces on Robins screen, "poetic justice remember?" He repeats himself, and we all start to look around.
Aqualad goes one way and I follow, walking behind him until he stops and I bump into him. "Why'd you stop walking?"
"The elevator," he says barley above a whisper. "There was something-"
"Elevators should be down," Wally stated, his bright suit glowing in the dark hall.
We all stood together in a group until Robin murmurs, "this is wrong."
I tap on my wrist computer and scan the building. "This is a express elevator. It doesn't belong in a two story building."
We all walk up to it and Aqualad pries it open. The bottom is so far down we can't see the floor.
"Shoot," Wally whistles, and Robin and I shoot our grapple guns and the whiz of the rope echoes against the cold walls. Long before we reach the bottom the to familiar click lets me know my ropes out.
"Guess we're getting off here," Robin shrugs and we step into new territory.
Dick's POV
Sub Level 26 is where we bypass the security cameras and walk into the strangest room I've ever seen. Rows and rows of barrels of, something line up against the wall. "No one move," Denver whispers through her cowl. Of course, KF speeds off just as she says it.
"Kid, wait!"
He skids to a halt when huge creatures the size of elephants stomp in front of him, and he barley dodges ones giant, bone crushing feet. We all watch in awe as the gorilla/elephants walk past.
"Nothing odd going on here," Kalder says as one odd little creature riding on the larger one looks right at us. A shiver of unease goes down my spine.
"We should leave," Dennie grabs my arm and turns, facing the exit we know of.
"Or keep looking!" I argue as we race down a new hallway, with even weirder things. Jars with more alien creatures, electricity running through the containers. "I'm officially whelmed."
"Nice vocab," Denver jabs and I shove her shoulder gently.
Wally taps a glass jar, "so this is how they hide this underground facility. The real Cadmus isn't on the grid! It generates its own power with these... Things. They must be bred to generate power."
"Even the names a clue. The Cadmus of myth created a new race by sowing dragons teeth into the earth," Kalder states and I cross my arms.
"And this Cadmus creates life too!" So spot a computer a few feet away. "They're called, genomorphs. Look at the stats on these things! Super strength, laser eyes, sharp teeth and claws! These things are living weapons!"
"They're creating an army, but for who?" Wally stares at the screen intently.
"Look," Denver points at the screen. "Project Kr. But it's triple-encrypted, you'll have to-"
"No one move!" A loud, booming voice silences our conversation. "Stay where you are!"
Dang it.
