Bruce Wayne tapped his fingers on the table that he was sitting at impatiently. He knew that the meeting at Wayne Tower that would run for a while, but this was ridiculous. He had sat almost three hours in the same spot, listening to the head of the heavy weapons manufacture go on about how the supply in demand was increasing faster than they anticipated. Today was the first day of leaving Denver at home with Alfred. Bruce knew Alfred was very reliable, but still he worried that something very very bad could happen while he was gone. The press had gotten ahold of the fact Bruce had a baby and that Selina had left him to raise their daughter by himself, and he had worried about someone kidnapping her for ransom. It was a somewhat stupid thing to stress over, but he was so lost in thought that he hadn't heard Lucius Fox say his name.
"Bruce? You still with us?"
Bruce shook his head and looked back up. Fox and the head of weapons manufacture, Mr. Cage, were intently focused on Bruce. But Gotham's prince was done with listening.
"You know what gentlemen, I am looking forward to whatever you have to say, but I think this can continue tomorrow." ("And I'm Batman so HA!")
Mr. Cage looked slightly offended but Lucius smiled faintly. "We understand Mr. Wayne. Same time same station tomorrow then?" Lucius asked Mr. Valley. "Sure," he grumbled.
Bruce started walking out the door when he heard the shuffling of feet behind him. "Bruce," Lucius called out, "I've got that thing you asked for." Nodding Bruce followed his friend to his office. Opening the door Lucius said something that sounded like, "you're going to love this," to Bruce. Behind the desk was a black contraption that Bruce almost didn't recognize. But after Lucius pressed the button, he realized it was exactly what he had asked for.
"This," started Fox, "is the most safe, high tech, and expensive car seat you will ever find. It has a scanner that will scan the baby to find out the perfect safety needs of the child. It will adapt to her as she ages. I think you approve- am I wrong Mr. Wayne?"
Shaking his head he answered, "No this is perfect Lucius. You're sure it will fit into my car?"
"Absolutely."
Bruce picked it up and walked out of the building to his car, and drove away so he could get home to little Dennie.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~When Bruce pulled into the driveway, he almost drove into the yard when he saw the extra vehicles parked in front of his house. He couldn't remember inviting company over, or a at-the-manor meeting. He was so overwhelmed he didn't even think to take a closer look at the cars to see if they belonged to people he knew. The Dark Knight threw open the manor doors and was greeted by Alfred, who was calmer than ever. "Master Bruce, you're company and Miss Denver are in the sitting room."
"My company?" Bruce questioned as he walked to the sitting room. He opened the doors to the large room and almost lost it when he saw who his, "company" really was. Barry Allan, Oliver Queen, Clark Kent, and a few other members of the League where all sitting in his sitting room, with Diana cradling Denver in her arms. All eyes were on Bruce. No one said a word. No one dared breathe. No one but the Flash of course.
"I didn't think that anything that cute," Barry said pointing at Bruce's baby, "could come from you," he finished pointing back at Bruce. Scowling Bruce sat down in an empty leather seat across from everyone else. There once again, was nothing said.
"So how'd you guys find out?" asked Bruce, even though he knew the answer.
"You know what Bruce?" Oliver said a little agitated. "Good friends tell people when they're going to have a baby. Or that their wife divorced him. But you," he said accusingly, "you only tell one person," Clark shifted uncomfortably in his seat, "and have the rest of us figure out over the newspapers." Oliver reached behind Dinah and pulled out a paper with the headline, 'Gotham's prince has a heir to the Thorne.'
Bruce just huffed and walked over to the famed Wonder Woman, who was cradling Denver in her arms. He looked into her eyes, and silently said I'm sorry. She smiled slightly and whispered, "you could have told us you were having a hard time."
He took his little girl in his arms. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you guys. I should have said something." Bruce looked at his friends and then at his baby. Denver smiled and gurgled and put her little hand on his face.
"Well if you need a sitter," said Barry, "you can ask Clark."
"Wait what?"
Everyone laughed and Bruce felt like he could finally breathe again.
