Alfred ran around the house one last time. He didn't want to believe it, but the children had vanished. Trying to think of where they could be, Alfred came to the terrible realization. They couldn't be inside, he hadn't heard them come in. They weren't anywhere outside, he looked. They couldn't be hiding in a treehouse because there was no treehouse.

Running down the hallway Alfred cried out, "Master Bruce!" When he came to a halt at the office door. "Master Bruce!" Alfred repeated, gulping in air. Bruce looked up from a photo and set it down on the desk, raising an eyebrow at the sudden commotion.

"Alfred," Bruce started, drawing out the word, "what's the matter?"

"Master Bruce, it seems the children are-" Alfred stopped and took a few steps back, in case Bruce might choose to hit or throw something. "It seemed the children are gone."

"WHAT?!" Bruce stood up so quickly his chair clattered to the ground. "They can't be gone I-" Bruce stopped himself and started to briskly walk out of the door.

"Master Bruce?" Alfred called out. "Shouldn't Bruce Wayne be calling the police to alert them of the disappearance of his children?"

Bruce looked back at Alfred just before exiting the room. "No," he said as calmly as he could, "Bruce Wayne is going to have his butler call the police while he goes to the cave."

Alfred called out one last time. "Why sir, if I might ask?"

Bruce gave him a sort of smile as he said, "Denver and Dick both have tracking devices in their shoes. You see, I knew this day would come." And Bruce ran to the cave, leaving Alfred to call the police.

"Would you- ow! -quit biting me you little- ow! - I oughta- Carl!" The thug holding (you guessed it) Denver cried out to his friend, who looked up from tying Dicks arms behind the little boys thin frame. "Can't we just throw her in the basement, or throw her in the river, she's biting me- OW!"

"Stuart, the plan won't work if there's only one of them! And she's the actual Wayne kid, she's the one we want." The ugly beard guy, who's name must of been Carl, walked over and grabbed Denver's neck. She tried to flip and flop, but she was paralyzed and couldn't move. The grip on her neck hurt, and she could feel his fingers dig into her skin. While she was unable to cause any harm to the thugs, they tied her arms behind her and sat her next to Dick. The two kids say on the floor and listened to the men talk.

As Denver sat on the floor, she felt her heartbeat quicken. She realized, no matter how much kicking and screaming she did, they could hurt her and Dick within a blink of an eye. She thought about all the horrible things that could happen, and she started to get scared.

Dick watched in concern as Denver's breathing got shorter and faster. She then started to rapidly take in breaths, and she fidgeted in her binds. He wanted to talk to her, but the bandana in his mouth stopped him. Dick watched as the two men left the room and closed the door behind them.

He wiggled and tried his best to loosen the gag. After a few failed attempts, he finally got the gag to fall. "Denver! Denver it's okay," he started, but she continued to panic, and soon she was hyperventilating. Though Dick was never around a panic attack, he recognized that something was wrong right away. "Denver!"

She looked at him with wide eyes and started to slowly settle down. She wiggled her arms and tried to loosed her gag, but when she had no success she continued to panic. Her Daddy wasn't going to save her, he didn't know where she was.

And as Dick watched Denver continue to struggle, he felt like all hope was gone.

"Master Bruce are you sure about this?" Alfred asked as he watched Bruce secure his cowl and utility belt.

Bruce didn't look up as he said, "Alfred, my kids are out there, and I know where they are. Batman is much faster than the NYPD." He pointed to the large computer screen that showed two little red dots blinking on and off again. "That's were the kids are... so I'm gonna leave now," Bruce stopped and looked at the floor.

Alfred stepped a little closer. "Is everything alright? Might I get you a glass of water, or a new rope for your grapple gun sir?"

Bruce shook his head, "no I'm fine, it's just that-" he paused and took a deep breathe. "This will be the first time that they'll see me as Batman, instead of,well you know." He gestured with his hand and ran his worn calluses fingers threw his hair. "But it was bound to happen eventually."

Dick continued to fiddle with the ropes that kept his hands behind him and tried to keep Denver as calm as he could. "It's okay, your dad will show up in no time, and we'll- We'll play with your dolls when we get home." He felt the rope begin to loosen when Denver looked at him and started to take slower breathes. Slowly the ropes eased off of Dicks wrists and he reached out to revile his now free hands. He reached over and pulled on Denver's gag, then started to work on her ropes.

"Thanks Dickie," she whispered to him.

He was about to reply when his attention was drawn to the loud noises that were coming from outside the door. Crashing and loud yelps filled his ears, and after spending a few minutes wondering what the noise could be, the door split open and a dark shadow entered.

"Daddy!" Denver squealed, but after a look from her dad she composed herself, "I mean, Batman."

"Are you two okay?" Bruce/Batman asked as he came over and finished untying Denver. He examined their wrists and arms in search of scratches or bruises, but only found light scratches across Denver's forearm and a small bruise across Dicks wrist.

"Daddy?" Denver looked up at the cowl covering her fathers face.

"Yeah baby girl?" Bruce asked as he picked her up and took Dicks hand in his.

Denver leaned her hand across his chest. "Can I help you beat up the bad guys? I could have a costume, and a mask, and Dick could be my sidekick."

"Nuh-Uh! You'd be the sidekick!" Dick replied, "I'm older!" Which Denver replied to with sticking out her tounge at him.

Bruce interrupted, "you would both be the sidekick and the answer is no."

"Awe please Daddy? I could help!!!" Denver whined.

"Denver, no means no. Now, who wants a ride in the Batmobile?"
