Lilly's POV
So there I was, sitting in the Mess Hall while everyone chattered and screamed about all of the news and rumors flying around the camp. I couldn't help but be interested in all of the gossip that went on and what people were saying. It was always so entertaining when you could just sit back and watch everything that went on like a soap opera. Usually it went something like this:
"Did you hear what Jessica did?"
"Yeah! She made out with Brad last night!"
"Well I heard she was cheating on him with Andy-"
"What?! No. Way."
"Yes way!"
"O. M. G! That is so wrong! Did you hear about..."
But recently, it's been a whole lot more personal:
"Did you hear about that Willow girl and Ferrior?"
"Yeah! They so have to be going out!"
"What?! Ew! She's so pretty! Why would she go out with someone so creepy and weird!"
It had only been three days since they boys got over their hypothermia and rumors about Ferrior, Willy, Chris and I were spreading like wildfire. I'd been trying to tune them out, knowing that most of them were lies, but one of them caught my attention.
"Did you hear about Chris dumping Courtney?" said one of the girls, "And he said that this was it and that he didn't want to get back together again."
"What?! That is so stupid!" exclaimed her friend, "They're always getting back together!"
"Well I think this time it's gonna be different!" she assured, "There's a rumor going around that he broke up with her for Lilly Way!"
"Lilly?!" exclaimed the other girl, "What a douche!"
"And, he totally dropped all of his friends this morning at breakfast!"
"No way!"
"Yeah! They're all pissed off at him and he's been sitting with Ferrior!"
"Maybe they're like boyfriends or something!"
"EEEW!! That's like, so gross!!"
I couldn't believe it. Chris and Courtney had been dating on and off since they'd come to camp. He'd always been one of the popular kids and dated all of the ditzy blond girls at camp and whenever he'd try to hit on me, I'd always shut him down. I wasn't going to be used like a tissue and then thrown away by some stuck-up jerk.
The thing is, lately he actually has been acting really different. He hasn't been hanging around with his usual group of players and jocks, he's been keeping to himself. The other day, I saw him sitting with Ferrior at breakfast and now apparently he had broken up with his girlfriend. He seemed to be cutting all of his ties and starting over. Another thing was that he wasn't wearing his usual clothes, that consisted of designer t-shirts and cargo shorts and sagging skinny jeans, he was wearing a pair of baggy jeans with t-shirts that had various bands on them.
