"Your parents are here to see you," Garret said and sat down on the couch.

I'm still in the hospital even though nothing's wrong with me. But the doctors kept telling me that it was my parents' orders not to make me leave the hospital without further notice. Garret's keeping me company but he eventually went home earlier. He came back, though, newly-showered and wearing fresh clothes.

"How do you know?" I asked.

"I came here with them."

I raised an eyebrow. I wasn't expecting that. "You did? Really? How come?"

"They came to pick me up," he replied with a careless shrug. "I was surprised. They didn't talk to me on the way, though."

I sighed. "Should I tell them I know about the document? Or should I wait for them?"

"I think they know I told you. Hence why they picked me up."

Before I could reply, the door opened and my parents came in. Mom was immediately on my side and became fussing my hair, my pale face and everything there's a need to fuss about. Dad, on the other hand, walked slowly to the table and placed a vase of flowers.

"Why do you look so pale?" Mom gushed, cupping my face with her strong hands.

"That's my natural complexion," I muttered and tried to wave her off. But, inside, I was happy that she was fussing like this.

"You know about the document." I turned to my dad, who spoke the sentence. He was sitting on the nearest chair beside my table, watching me seriously. It wasn't a question; it was a statement.

"Alexander, please," Mom said exasperatedly. "Can we not bring this up now?"

"Why didn't you tell me about the document?" I asked, ignoring my mother.

My parents exchanged glances and then together looked at me. Mom sighed and was the one who answered my question. "Melanie, darling, we were going to tell you..."

"When?" I demanded. "When were you going to tell me? When I accidentally find it at home? Why does it have to be Fiona telling me everything? First she told me that I'm the Vampire Princess five years ago. Now she's telling me about the document! You're supposed to be my parents! You should be the one who explains everything to me!"

"Sometimes things are hard to explain," Dad said.

"So I'm not really a royal blood? None of us are?"

"No," Mom agreed. Then she turned to Garret where he was sitting. "But he is."

"And Fiona," I added disgustedly. "What are we going to do? What if Fiona will make up a twisted story?"

Dad rubbed his forehead, like every time he does whenever he's stressed out. "I don't know what to do. Some people from the council know about the document... There's something wrong though."

"What?"

"Fiona might steal our positions from us."

"Is that even possible?" I gasped.

"She has royal blood," Mom sighed. "She has more than we have, Melanie. She might show the people the document. I don't know how she'll do it but she might. She has more power than we have."

"But people know she's evil!"

"Not the other people."

"The other people?" I repeated. "What do you mean?"

"There are other vampires, Melanie. Not only here in Springfield," Dad explained. "Like the Duke and Duchess of vampires in London. Or maybe the Baron and Baroness in Netherlands. People who has also the same power that we have. They're very strict with their laws. They say that a royal-blood should be the one to rule."
