“Wow, you really did it this time.”

I smiled fondly as I leaned on the doorframe, watching James and Jennifer sleep. It was already ten in the evening and Xayranne and Flynn just arrived from the party. After eating in the diner, the four of us – James, Jennifer, Garret and I – went to a mall and watched a movie. We also did some shopping (at least Jennifer and I did; the boys kept their eyes on a new video game). We had dinner back at the house, thanks to Garret’s glorious (don’t tell him, it’ll definitely inflate his ego) cooking.

Flynn grinned as he snaked his arm around Xayranne’s waist. “I’m impressed,” he told me.

“Thank you. It wasn’t that hard to manage at all,” I assured them.

“Yeah, tell that to Garret,” Xayranne said, chuckling.

The three of us glanced on the couch where Garret was snoring loudly. It took all his energy just by taking care of the kids.

“Oh yeah, the payment,” Xayranne remembered, immediately checking on her purse.

“No! You don’t have to,” I protested. I gestured at the shirt I was wearing.    “You can pay me with this.”

“Ah,” Flynn said, understanding visible in his face. “I remember when Garret borrowed a shirt of mine. They used the ketchup and mayonnaise thing with you, didn’t they?”

            “Unfortunately.”

Xayranne smiled sheepishly. “On behalf of my children, I’m so sorry about that.”

I laughed. “Nah, it’s okay. At least I had a great time with them.”

“Well, you better go home now. Your boyfriend is waiting for you at home,” Flynn said, emphasizing the word ‘boyfriend.’

“Um… okay. I’ll see you some other time.” I grinned in farewell and walked to the couch. I slapped Garret’s right leg – hard.

He jumped, startled then sat up. He was frowning. “Wh-what?”

“Drive me home,” I demanded, but there was a smile on my lips. Aww, he looks like a confused puppy!

            “Um… what time is it?”

            “Ten.”

“Holy shit, it’s almost eleven!” he gasped then got up from the couch.

“No shit, Sherlock,” I said, rolling my eyes. “Come on, drive me home.”

Garret sighed. “Fine. Wait for me outside, will you?”

“Okay.” I waved at the couple one last time then walked outside the house.

“Where were you last night? I tried waiting up for you but I ended up sleeping,” Jerome said as he took the seat beside me. He took the last pancake in the plate and I frowned disapprovingly.

“Um, I was in Xayranne and Flynn’s house. It turned out they got home late.”

“Wait… You mean, they were not with you when you were with the kids?” Jerome frowned.
