Chapter Forty-Five: Dougal

A/N: Just so you know, this chapter switches between Raygel and Skylar's POV quite often. I'm sorry if that confuses you. I simply wanted to show what was going on from two different viewpoints. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the chapter!

Skylar's POV

We set out only half an hour after Raygel, Kitty, and Herobrine. Everyone had wanted to leave right away, and the preparations didn't take as long as expected. I was the last to enter the End, and I took a moment to stare into the swirling portal. Then, I took a deep breath and a leap of faith. 

I opened my eyes and gasped in surprise. The air was practically shimmering with purple magic, and a large shape was the focus of the purple power. The shape came towards us quickly from the air, and I heard a roar.

Raygel's POV

A roar shattered the tense silence as I struggled with the pressure building in my head. It was unmistakably the Ender Dragon. I cursed quietly.

Ah, I know where you are now, Dougal said menacingly. I look forward to seeing you again, Raygel. As he spoke the last syllable, pain erupted in my head and I feel to my knees.

"Raygel!" Herobrine gasped. The worry was clear in his voice. I tried to steady my breathing while Notch put a comforting hand on my back. The pain faded slowly.

"I'll... be fine," I managed to say. "I just... need... a moment." After I steadied myself, we exited the tunnel we were to see what had caused the disturbance.

Skylar's POV

I was shaking as the dragon landed in front of us, claws out as if it was ready to fight and teeth bared.

"Wait!" Seto yelled over the beast's growls. "We came to help our friends!" It quieted down. Its next growl almost seemed like it was trying to hold a conversation. "I... I can't understand you very well, but I will try my best."

"Tell it that we're friends," Jason urged. I saw that he was shaking even worse than me. I'd heard the Ender Dragon was a tough opponent, but it was bigger and tougher-looking than I expected. 

"We're here to help our friends - Raygel, Kitty, and Herobrine. Have you seen them?" Seto said cautiously. It growled quietly. I assumed it was confirmation because Seto smiled in relief.

"What are you guys doing here?!" I heard Raygel's shout. I looked over and saw her with Kitty and Herobrine, as well as someone I assumed to be Notch.

"Douglas, what's happening?" Kitty asked the dragon. It replied and she nodded.

"We didn't want you guys to do this on your own. We're a team," Sky replied easily.

"Well, as long as you're here, you might as well prepare for a fight," The person I assumed to be Notch said. "He's coming, right?" Raygel nodded.

"A fight? I thought you guys said you weren't looking for a fight?" Jordan questioned.

"Who are we fighting?" Jerome asked.

"It's Dougal," Raygel answered. "He knows where we are." I connected the dots quickly. He knew where we were because of us. The dragon's roar was unmistakable. Guilt flashed through my mind.
