Skylar's POV (A/N: one of my computer's options for correcting POV was POO. Yep, in all caps :P )
I was wavering. I knew it. I couldn't last much longer fighting Herobrine. The though made my insides twist with guilt. If only I was stronger, I could save the people who were counting on me. I was about to break down - whether it was from pain from my various wounds, or exhaustion from just a few minutes of intense fast-paced battle, or something else; but I really didn't care at that moment.
Fortunately, that was the moment that my life was saved. Two arrows flew through the air and lodged themselves into Herobrine's shoulder. I didn't take the time to figure out who my savior was, but instead I chose to take the opportunity. I didn't hesitate - didn't even consider using the opportunity to flee - and lunged forward, sword-point forward, toward my enemy's back. My diamond sword whizzed through the empty air and I saw Herobrine reappear in front of my saviors.
Unsurprisingly, the siblings, Raygel and Kitty, stood side by side with bows in hand. Herobrine was too far away for me to be any use to them at his point, and as my adrenaline began to wear off because I was no longer a target, I stumbled and nearly fell. I leaned against the closest wall and watched as Raygel quickly dispatched my most hated enemy.
I watched helplessly as Herobrine raged at them, only to be interrupted the sisters' charge. Herobrine twisted away from Kitty's iron sword and found himself speared by Raygel's instead. I saw the Ender particles gather around him for a teleport, and tried to stand up in case I could intercept him, but Herobrine didn't count on Raygel teleporting with him. He didn't get very far. Raygel pulled her sword out of the man and hesitated.
I sat up quickly for a better look when I spotted something odd. They looked like dark red flames, similar to Herobrine's dark magic, flickered around Raygel's hand and the hilt of her sword. A mixture of shock and horror twisted in my gut when I realized where I recognized those from. They reminded me of when I was first captured by Herobrine or when newbies were recruited. Usually, the flames and evidence of Herobrine's magic would darken from red, to purple, and finally to midnight black; like a festering bruise fading through its phases. I was at the perfect angle to witness her put away her sword even before Herobrine fell to the ground.
I closed my eyes and leaned back my head against the stone wall. I breathed a long sigh of relief that everything seemed to be peaceful again, even if I was concerned for Raygel. Internally, I was raging. How could she spare him?! I wondered. I could hear the sounds of celebration, and then arguing, as people gathered around Raygel and Kitty. Raygel seemed unbalanced, and finally leaned on Kitty. Seto, a newcomer that I think I recognized, Lizzie, and Kitty all hovered near Raygel to make sure she was alright. Then I saw the red flames circling Raygel's body replaced by a white light that flowed like a steady stream. No one else seemed to notice, since no one was panicking, but I had a feeling that Raygel would be alright for now. The red flames seemed like an infection that probably went deeper, but the soothing white light prevented it from affecting Raygel too much.
I was ignored, even by the people I had worked so hard to save, even by the boy I loved. Of course, that boy didn't know, but it would have been nice to get some consideration. I listened as Kitty finally calmed everyone down by yelling, and I watched through half-lidded eyes as Seto recounted Raygel's story. I then felt my anger slowly simmer down and dissipate. It was her choice, I guess. As I watched, Herobrine's castle materialized in front of Herobrine's prone form with an explosion of purple Ender particles.
My eyes opened wider as I realized that a figure was walking toward me. Even at this distance, I could make out the signature red and black checkered hoodie and his wind-tussled brown hair. Mitch soon knelt down next to me. I smiled weakly at him, not used to be under anyone's direct gaze. His brown eyes swept down my body before resting on my face. My light blue-grey eyes stared, frozen, into Mitch's warm brown ones. I felt my heart give a little skip and almost gasped aloud. This was it. This was why I'd started fighting in the first place...
