Chapter Eight: Imprisonment

I sat quickly up, waking with a sharp gasp. There was a dull throbbing in my head, probably the result of a headache. Where was I? Looking around, I saw I was trapped in a small stone room with an iron door but no way to open it. The room was empty, except for the bed. What had happened? Small glimpses flashed through my mind. Finishing the portal, people with weapons, the pain, and the dream flashed through my head one by one. Strangely, the dream was the only clear thing.

How was I not dead? Was I trapped by the people I barely remembered? I stood up and looked through the window on the door. I couldn’t see anything but a stone hallway and torchlight. I briefly considered calling out, but decided against it. I had to get out of here, but how? I could destroy the wall, but that would cost me time and pain. Was there no other way?

"Hello?" I called out softly, dreading the response. However, I got none. So the only way out would be to break the wall. I punched the wall, and even though it hurt I continued. By the time I had destroyed the first out of the two blocks I had to destroy to get out, my hand were bleeding and painful. The block disappeared almost like a mob would by sinking into the ground, but dropped no resources. To my surprise, the moment that the block broke I saw a brown-haired person sitting on a bed. I gasped and pulled away, but it was too late. He's seen me! The boy ran out of his room. Desperately, I tried to destroy the second block. There was no time!

I heard yelling and then the door burst open, revealing the boy I had seen before along with two others. Both of the new boys also had brown hair, but one wore a mostly black robe with a purple hood while the other had on a pair of green headphones and a white shirt. The boy I had first seen had on a strange mostly black outfit that I didn't recognize with a purple amulet and sunglasses.

"Stop that!" The boy with the sunglasses yelled at me when I punched the block again. Startled, I paused. "What do you think you're doing?" He asked. I didn't answer. I simply turned to them and raised my bare fists in a fighting position. I wasn't about to go down without a fight.

“We don’t want to fight,” said a boy I hadn’t noticed in the background. He had black hair and also wore a purple amulet but a different black outfit.

You can trust them; the voice from my dream said in my mind. No, I silently thought. I can’t trust them or this weird voice. I said nothing to any of the boys, still as a cat and muscles tensed.

“We don’t want to hurt you,” the boy who had just spoken repeated. “My name is Antvenom, but most people just call me Ant. Guys, do you want to introduce yourselves?”

“You can call me Sky,” said the boy with the sunglasses.

“I’m Deadlox, or you can call me Ty,” the boy wearing the headphones said.

Lastly, the boy in the robes introduced himself, “My name is Seto.”

“I don’t trust you.” I finally confessed simply. I had no reason to trust them. Ant nodded understandingly.

“It’s alright. You don’t have any reason to trust us yet, do you?” He clarified.

“Except that we saved her life,” Ty commented.

“Yeah, but I don’t think she was awake for that.” Ant said. Ty didn’t reply.

“Hey, my name’s Lizzie! What’s your name?” A girl said, peeking over the shoulders of the boys. The first thing I noticed about her was her pink hair.

After a long pause, I replied slowly. “Raygel,” I said.

“You have a pretty name,” Lizzie complimented me. I said nothing, instead deciding to focus on two more newcomers. One of them, strangely enough, wore a blue spacesuit with an orange helmet and the other wore sunglasses and a white shirt and black jacket with black pants.

“What’s going on?” The one in the spacesuit asked.

“Ty sucks at being a guard! “ Sky exclaimed.

“Hey,” Ty protested, but weakly.

“She woke up and tried to break through the wall.” Ant explained more calmly.

“Wouldn’t that just hurt her hands?” The other boy spoke up. As he made that comment, I quickly hid my hands behind my back to conceal the self-inflicted damage. A couple of people glanced over at me, but Lizzie had already noticed.

“She did. I noticed they were bleeding.” Lizzie said.

“I can help,” Seto offered to me. “Can I see your hands?” I shook my head silently. I didn’t want to reveal my weakness. I had to get out of here, and soon. There were too many people crowding the doorway if I wanted to get through, and I knew they wouldn’t allow me to expand my hole.

“By the way, Raygel, this is Jason and Jordan,” Ant introduced his friends. Jason smiled at me and Jordan looked in my direction. My hands still hurt, not to mention my headache that was increasing.

“Did you find out what happened, Seto?” Jordan asked.

“Yes. She’s been cursed.” He replied gravely.

“Cursed?” Sky echoed.

“By Herobrine,” Seto explained. “And Notch is also trying to protect her.” They all seemed shocked, maybe even sacred.

That would be me. I’m Notch; said the voice in my head.

“Why?” Jason asked.

“I don’t know.” Seto shook his head.

“Oh, crap!”  I gasped as pain hit my head again like a sledgehammer. I fell to one knee, clutching my forehead. This time, I tried to fight off the blackness. My breath tore in and out of my lungs raggedly and heart pounded in my ears.

“Are you okay?” I heard someone ask in a muffled voice, as if I was underwater.

Don’t worry. Just keep fighting; Notch instructed. I groaned as if in response, grinding my teeth together in concentration. After what seemed like an eternity, but was really only a few minutes, the blackness at the edge of my vision faded along with the pain. Reality started to return along with a bone-deep sense of tiredness. I felt someone holding my arm, and heard other people in the background panicking and/or trying to soothe me. I took a deep breath to ground myself, and then shook out of the person’s hold.

“Are you okay?” Lizzie asked worriedly. I didn’t answer; I just backed away from the crowd of people in my cell. If only one of them pulled out a weapon… I wouldn’t be able to defend myself or even run in this cramped space. I tried to put some space between me and everyone else, but the space was too claustrophobic.

Good job. You’re safe for now; Notch assured me. That was the last thing I heard before I passed out yet again.

A/N: Yep, I have a thing for making my characters lose conciousness :) Anyway, I'm sick so chapters may not be coming out as quickly. I made this one long to make up for it. I hope you liked it, please leave a comment with a prediction or something. Whatever you want to say is welcome! <3
