~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maybe once, he had thought his appearance was okay. But that was years ago. Years ago, he would have never thought of throwing up on purpose. It never would have crossed his mind. But after years of constant criticism from the media, the toilet bowl became his comfort. The toilet bowl became his friend.
Standing in front of a mirror, he'd look at his stomach, he'd twist and turn, searching for signs of fat, and finding any, the toilet bowl became his comfort again.
No more was the happy, joking, funny guy the public once knew. In those long years, his personality had dampened to a quiet, sometimes emotionless personality, the criticism eating away at his heart and soul.
At first, he had promised himself never to do it again, but soon, the hate became too much, and he broke his own promise, over and over again. It became an addiction, a way of comfort, his friend.
The skinnier he got, the happier he was, but it wasn't the same for his band mates and family.
"Louis, please, you're killing yourself."
"We can't lose you."
"You're way too skinny to be healthy."
"Lou, we love you, don't do this."
It all said the words he couldn't process. Too skinny? He was too fat. The toilet was he only friend now. His band mates never understood.
Standing in front of a mirror, criticizing his stomach, he barely heard the door open. Only the touch of a hand on his shoulder made him realize someone was there. It was Liam, Liam who always smiled, always happy, was frowning deeply, his eyes looking over his body. It made him self conscious. Liam saw how fat he was.
Liam sighed. He pulled out his phone and held it up.
"Louis, who is this?"
He stared, it was a picture from three years ago. Of himself. He looked tan, with big muscles and a broad grin on his face.
He looked at Liam.
"Me."
Liam sighed. He typed a few things in his phone and held it up again.
"Who is this?"
He stared again.
The person in the photo looked like him, but nothing like the first photo. It was recent. He had lost all his muscles, his skin pale, a frown on his face, which looked sickly. He had lost all that glow that showed from the first picture. And it terrified him. To see what he had become. To see the monster that had eaten away at him, taken control of him.
"Louis, please, promise me you'll stop. You're beautiful, you always were. Why do this to yourself."
Tears fell, his hands trembled, his heart shattered, knees failing him, and he dropped to the ground. What had he become?
Liam dropped beside him, holding him as he broke into pieces, shattering like glass. Gripping Liam's shirt, he sobbed. Why had he let the criticism get to him? The others didn't let it. Why him?
"Lou, promise me. Promise to stop. You're beautiful, don't forget that."
He nodded.
But the next day, the promise was broken.
And the toilet bowl became his comfort again.
He was a monster. He broke Liam's promise.
Liam came in his room to find him curled up next to the toilet.
"Oh, Lou..." Liam sighed, lifting him up bridal style and carrying him to the bed.
"I-I tried. I did. It-It just hurt too much."
"I know. I know. But it's going to be okay."
"I'm a monster..."
"Louis William Tomlinson, you are not a monster in anyway. You're hurt, and you've lost your way, but that would NEVER make you a monster. You need to find yourself again, and ignore the media. You're beautiful, they just are jealous. Because you're beautiful and amazing, and they aren't. It's going to be okay. I'll be here, to help you."
He looked into Liam's eyes, seeing the sincerity.
The toilet bowl was his friend, it had been his comfort. But he found something new, and the toilet bowl slowly became forgotten.
Liam was his comfort.
