Louis' POV
Niall and I sat on our couch, watching TV. Well, Niall was. I was lost in my thoughts. I wanted to propose to Niall soon. We'd been together for three years, an I loved him with all my heart. But I need help planning... Maybe I could ask Harry. Yeah, I think I'll do that. We all know he's a romantic. Although he won't man up and ask the school jock, Liam Payne out.
I pulled out my phone and shot a text to Harry, asking him to meet me at Starbucks to talk. I waited for his reply and once it came, I stood up.
"Where you going, Lou?"
Niall looked over at me.
"Oh, I'm going to hang out with Harry again. I'll be home soon. I love you." I grabbed my keys and ran out the door.

Niall's POV
Louis has been so distant these days. He's always with Harry and barely pays attention to me. Did I do something wrong? What if he's cheating on me? No. Louis loves me. But... What if? He did used to have a crush on Harry... No. I have to trust Lou. But he could be cheating...

Louis' POV (told you there's lots of POV switches)
I pulled into the Starbucks parking lot and shut off my engine. Going in, I immediately saw Harry and rushed over.
"Hey, Lou. What was it you wanted I talk about?" He pushed a cup of coffee over to me and sat back, staring at me.
"I want to propose to Niall."
Harry gasped.
"Oh my god! This is great!"
"Yeah, but I don't have a plan... I don't even have a ring. Help me, Haz!"
Harry smiled even wider, if possible.
"Totally. We need to go and get your ring. But firsts, a plan. How bout this? A romantic date in your backyard. Dinner under the stars, ya know? I'll be your waiter. Maybe I could get Li to help. Distract Niall for a while and then bring him outside. We both know how close they are. Liam would be able to distract Niall until it gets dark while we set the dinner up in the garden. I'll cook the food at my place while you go get a tux. I'll have Liam take Niall to get a tux during the distraction. We set up and Li brings Niall out and BOOM! Romantic dinner for two under the stars served by moi, and maybe Liam. How's that?"
I nodded my head.
"That's great. I bet Niall will love it. Now, to get a ring." I stood up and Harry followed, throwing our cups out. We drove to the nearest jewellery store and Harry just about dragged me in. You'd think he was more excited about this than me... The lady at the counter smiled.
"What can I do for you lads?" She smiled. She was an elderly lady, in her mid 60s or 70s.
"I'm looking for an engagement ring." I looked around the store, trying to find the rings.
"Oh, who's the lucky lady?" She smiled sweetly at me.
"Um... It's not a lady..." I looked at my feet while Harry was silently laughing at my discomfort.
"Oh! I'm so sorry! Well, tell me about him."
"He's perfect. He's get blue eyes that look like sapphires, he has dyed blonde hair, it was originally brown, but it's cute blonde. He's short, which is adorable. And he has the sweetest personality. He's amazing..." I looked at Harry who was laughing harder.
"She asked you to tell her about Niall, not give a summary of how adorable he is, Lou."
The lady shook her head.
"No. Its fine. I don't see love like that often. It reminds me of my husband and I. So, engagement rings!"
She pulled out three trays of rings and laid them out for me and Harry to examine.
"No. That's too plain."
"That ones way too girly."
"Niall wouldn't like an extravagant one."
"No, it's too big."
This went on until we had gone through the entire lot of trays. I sighed.
"Maybe the right ones not here,Lou. Lets go to another store."
The woman stood there, her face screwed up slightly.
"Wait! I think I may have the perfect ring!"
She spun around and went into the back, coming out with a blue velvet ring box. She opened it and I gasped. The ring inside was perfect. It was silver with a line of gold through the middle. I reached out, looking at her, and she nodded, showing that I could touch it.
I picked it up gently and took out the ring. Looking closely, there was a tiny engraving space. The engraving read
'It's Only You Who Has My Heart'
I gasped. It was beautiful... I nodded.
"This is it! This is the one!" I was smiling widely, staring at the beautiful ring.
The lady at the counter smiled. She looked at me for a moment before exclaiming, "you need the other one!" And to mine, and Harry's shock, she pulled a ring off her left ring finger and set it in the box too. I frantically shook my head.
"No, ma'am, I can't take your wedding ring!"
She smiled.
"It's okay. My husband passed away five years ago. I keep my ring as a reminder of our love. But seeing you, and how in love you are with your fiancé, reminds me of my husband and I. And I want you to have our rings, because they were a symbol of how strong our love was. And they'll be a symbol of how strong your love is."
I could feel my eyes tearing up.
"Thank you so much... This means so much to me. Thank you."
I reached into my pocket to get my wallet, but was stopped by the lady.
"No. No. It's a gift. Pay me back by coming back with your fiancé. I would live to meet the boy who you love so much." I shook my head.
"I can't just take it!"
Harry laid a hand on my arm.
"Louis, she's giving you a gift. Take it."
I looked down at the two rings in the ring box. I smiled softly, thinking of Niall's smile when he sees it. I smiled at the lady and grabbed the ring box, putting it into my pocket. (This whole exchange thing I thought of because it happened in this book I read, just a little different)
"Oh! I never got your name!"
The lady laughed slightly.
"It's Ellen."
"Well, thank you, Ellen. So much. I'll bring Niall around soon."
"I can't wait."
Harry and I left the store, happy with the rings I had gotten. My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I pulled it out.
Niall: Lou, where are you? When are you coming home?

Lou: I'm our with Haz, I'm not sure when I'll be home.

Niall: oh sure. Hang out with Harry. Not like I'm not alone. Just go hang out with your new boyfriend.

I stared at my phone in shock. Niall thought I was cheating on him?
"Haz! Niall thinks I'm cheating on him with you! We have to get moving!"
Harry's eyes widened.
"Go but a tux! I texted Liam an he's on his way to pick Niall up to get a tux on the other side of town. I'll go home and cook. It'll work out, Lou. Don't worry. By the end of the night, he'll know it's always been him."
I sighed and said goodbye to Harry, rushing to the tux store a block away.
I ran in, and over to the counter.
"Hey, I'm looking for a tux. I want to propose to my boyfriend tonight, and I want to look good."
The lady behind the counter, who looked about twenty, helped me find and fit a tux. I paid hurriedly and ran out, the hanger hanging on my elbow. I hope Liam can keep Niall distracted long enough.
