Proposal of the sea part three-nouis

Two or three more parts and then it's over and back to random one shots! I have a question... Would it'd it be weird to use a bunch of quotes from mortal instruments book if I wrote a Malec based one shot? I kind of want to write one because DEAR GOD MALEC IS ADORABLE AND MY OTP! I'm having feels of Malec right now... Like seriously... Anyways. My friend and I have decided to become baptism of stupid warriors. By that, I mean that I told her that I'm going to start filling my pockets with glitter and whenever someone says something stupid or rude near me, I'm going to reach into my pocket with a straight face and release the glitter into the air and watch it shower over them like a baptism of stupid. So my friend and I decided we are going to wear rainbow capes and shirts that say 'baptism of stupid warriors' and lots of face rhinestones and tiaras and rainbow war paint. And it's gonna be awesome. Anyways, ITS ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!! Yay!!!! Happy Christmas or Hanukkah or kwanzaa or whatever other holiday there is to celebrate, because I'm not sure if I'll be able to update on Christmas... Okay, on with third part! Enjoy!

It had been years. Years since Louis had last spoken with Niall. Years since he had erased Niall's memories. And years of watching him from the sea. Not making contact, just watching. It was slightly fascinating to watch the blonde grow. The blonde grew from the little boy, to a teenager, but he never lost that beauty he had as a child. That beauty that shone in his personality.
Louis watched from afar as the still small for his age teen called over his shoulder to someone who was on top of the cliff, while the teen was down in that spot Louis knew so well. The teen, who was now sitting on the sand, staring out at the horizon, felt almost as though he was being watched. He glanced over his shoulder to see if maybe his best friend, Josh, had followed him down here. Once he saw no one, he shrugged and turned back to the ocean. But soon he felt the feeling of being watched again, and he was now slightly scared. But the feeling disappeared, as he had noticed Louis' carmel hair out in the water. He grinned.
"Hello!" He called out to the merman.
Louis was startled by the shout and realized that Niall had seen him. This was not his plan. Not at all. Louis sunk under the water, but stopped at Niall shouting.
"No! No! Don't be scared! I'm not going to hurt you!"
Louis sighed. There was no helping it. Niall had seen him yet again. He slowly rose from the water, his cape flowing in the wind. Niall gasped. This man was beautiful. His eyes were sea blue and he looked like royalty.
Louis had not planned on ever talking to Niall again, knowing the contact would kill him, but deep down, he knew he had longed to talk to the human boy again. The boy was just so fascinating.
"Hello! What's your name?" Niall still sounded so cheerful as he had the first day they met years ago.
"Louis."
"Hi, Louis! If you don't mind me asking, why were you in the water with your clothes on? They look quite fancy and expensive."
Louis had no idea what to say. He really should not have come here in the first place.
"Your highness! What are you doing up here? Oh!" Louis heard the unmistakable voice of his best friend Harry and turned to see Liam, Zayn, and Harry swimming in the shallows.
"Oh, hello! Are you Louis' friends? Wait... Are you royalty?!" Niall sounded shocked. He didn't seem to notice that the three in the water had dolphin tails.
"No-"
Harry cut Louis off.
"Yes. Louis is the prince of the sea! He isn't king yet because he refuses to do the proposal with-" he was cut off by Liam slapping his hand over his mouth.
"I'm sorry, your highness... He's such a blabber mouth."
Louis sighed. Harry had almost told Niall about the proposal. That couldn't not happen. Niall was a human. It was forbidden. No matter how much Louis wished it was different.
"What proposal? Wait, prince of the sea... Are you a mermaid?!" Niall sounded so excited and curious. It was adorable.
Louis sighed. There was no avoiding it.
"Yes. I'm a mermaid. Merman, actually. The proposal..." He hesitated.
"Do you remember me?" He asked.
"Remember you? Didn't I just meet you?" Niall questioned.
Louis turned to his best friends, sending them the silent question: Should I give his memories back? They all nodded and he turned to Niall. He stepped forward and touched Niall's forehead. Niall's eyes almost immediately slipped shut.
Visions flashed through his mind. Him as a little kid coming down here to pick up the trash he had dropped, him seeing Louis in the water, them talking, Louis telling him staying with him would kill him, Louis placing a hand on his forehead, and then darkness. Niall blinked his eyes open.
"Louis?"
"Do you remember me?"
Niall could only nod.
"What is this proposal your friends keep talking about?"
"It's...it's the rights I need to become king. I need to find someone and fall in love. The proposal is like marriage. They keep thinking I will propose it to you. But that's impossible. You're a human. It would kill me."
"But... What if I would want to do this... Proposal with you?"
Louis was shocked into silence.
"You'd... You'd actually want to do this with me?"
"Well, I'd imagine it would be more interesting than my life here. It's quite boring in this world." Niall smiled at Louis. Louis just shook his head.
"Niall, it's impossible. I'm would die as soon as it was over. I can't..."
"Well... Maybe there'll be a way where I can be a merman too. Who knows. But for now, I'd still love to see you."
Louis smiled.
"I'd like that too. But I can't touch you. I'm sorry. Contact is equal to death for me."
"It's okay... I understand." Niall looked over at where Liam, Harry, and Zayn had been.
"Your friends left. Are you leaving too?"
Louis nodded.
"Okay. I guess this is goodbye for now. Come back to see me soon!"
Louis smiled and waved as he stepped into the water. instantly, his tail appeared and his suit disappeared. He watched as Niall waved and then sank into the water. he would be back. He just had to be careful this time
