The bird sighed as his stare was fixed on the medium-sized hole on his robe. His eyes watered as he watched a tear fall. Why him? Why him? He knew better than to bring that boy to the Jade Palace. He knew. But he figured that the little leopard would be safer with Master Shifu and Grandmaster Oogway. But...he sighed. Perhaps if he had kept him, then maybe he wouldn't have gone on a blind rage. At least he was able to watch him grow. Or was he? No. He knew he was no where near the child. But why was the cub left on his doorstep, of all animals? That's just not fair. He knew he wouldn't be able to take care of him but he just couldn't leave him in that box of garbage. And he didn't. But you know what, he noticed something. His friends, called him a lunatic for keeping the lid long enough to be a year old. He should've let the cub die, but this bird was different. But, oh how he wished sometimes he did. Why he wished it, he never knew. But he regretted it now. He wishes he never wished that. But he did. He wishes he never gave the cub up. But he did. Now, usually, he'd just use it to gain more money. But this shirt...this robe...meant a lot. He got the hole as he made a climb to the jade palace. He waddled up those thousand stairs, he walked, he ran...everything. He got the cub there, and he wished that he didn't. Oh, if he hasn't, TaiLung would've made a fine heir to his line of work. Sure, he's got a talent for kung fu, but his temper, his anger, his pride....blinded him from everything. Now, the bird could recall numerous visits from Oogway, saying things like "My friend, do know what you're doing. You can still fix this.." But he never listened to the wise turtle. He turned and set it back in the drawer. He went downstairs and outside his home...noticing a panda cub right there. "Not again..." He thought. But...instead, he stopped. Perhaps...yes. This was it. This was the moment for it all to change. He picked up the crying cub and brought him inside. This...this was his chance. Mr. Ping smiled. This...this was his redemption.
