"Guys, RUN!" I yelled. They looked up to see Darkest Night and ran. Without them noticing, I climbed the tree we were sitting under and grabbed a rope from my backpack. I made it into a loop and hung it from the tree. I tried to catch Darkest Night with it. He raced past but didn't get caught. I started climbing down when the brown mare got caught by the rope. She panicked and when hearing her cries, Darkest Night and the young foal came to her. The great stallion reared up in front of the foal and knocked her to the ground with his large hooves. The mare whined loudly and kicked him with her back hooves. He didn't react because the kick was weak. I pulled the rope from her neck and let her run back to over the hills with Darkest Night. The foal still laid, bleeding but alive. As the stallion ran back, the mare nudged the foal to get up. I slowly made my way down the tree. The mare stepped back suddenly then grunted at me. I bent down to the foal and wiped her cuts with a tissue from my first aid kit. The mare nudged me along quite roughly then reared up at me only to be whined at by the foal. I stood back and let the mare take her foal back to their herd. I saw the others coming back to me with shocked looks.
